I live at 13 Bradley rd and have had my landline number stolen 0245712034 by these nasty neighbours about 2 years ago and now I find our house doesn’t even exist on the maps. I believe the neighbours around us have hacked into all our private passwords and accounts. There are cameras and spotlights surrounding us and I am in grave fear that our ID is being stolen. No 15 Bradley rd and No 11 Bradley rd and the house behind us in Susella crescent have engaged in a persecution campaign against me because they are racist anti-vaccination religious fanatics who have put up cameras overlooking our swimming pool and have obviously uploaded misinformation to this website.
The housing crisis in Ireland is really bad, to put it in simple words - I’m sure it’s similar in other countries too with potentially residential buildings being vacant, neglected, abandoned and consequently having to be demolished. If there are new houses being build on their spot, okay, at least that will reduce homelessness a bit, but some of these demolished buildings were listed as Architectural Heritage. I have tagged buildings in Kilkenny as vacant=yes and abandoned=yes (if the windows are boarded up, for example) and made a uMap of that. A Green councillor had become aware and asked me to cooperate. She is also involved in the “Keep Kilkenny Beautiful” initiative, and one of her group joined me in my survey.
Recently, I discovered that the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage had buildings listed that were long demolished (can I just say that our OSM way of curating maps is potentially so much more up to date) and reported it to them. This led me to add the tag ref:niah [EDIT: changed to ref:IE:niah] to all the vacant and abandoned buildings which were in that database. There are quite a few. Out of 80 buildings tagged “vacant”, 20 are of architectural significance and out of 28 tagged as “abandoned”, 9 have a ref:IE:niah tag. (And there is one which I think should be listed, but isn’t, but that’s for another day.)
(Unfortunately, their links need the number AND name of the building, it seems, so we cannot link directly from OSM to buildingsofireland.ie using that number.)
name:nanname:nan-HJname:nan-POJname:nan-TLname:hak

A bookmarked tweet from Ulises Ibarra reminded me that 8 years ago a bunch of us map nerds were celebrating Valentine’s Day by having a meet up to talk about OSM and HOT in Mexico City. The irony of doing that instead of proper V-Day celebrations didn’t go unnoticed then and it feels only fitting to commemorate it.
I’ve been thinking all day about community work, care work, and knowledge-sharing as acts of love. I owe so much knowledge, practical skills, and valuable lessons to communities and individuals that selflessly shared their expertise and wisdom. It seems appropriate to write a quick recap/thank you note/valentine’s day card to the people that introduced me to OSM.

Lubicz (z wyłączeniem niniejszej ulicy) do Ronda Mogilskiego, od Ronda Mogilskiego wzdłuż al. Powstania Warszawskiego (z wyłączeniem niniejszej ulicy), wzdłuż ul.
Over at map.atownsend.org.uk I use a wider variety of icons for different sorts of objects within OSM. I previously explained here how simple changes to a basic icon make it still recognisable as the basic object (“this is a pub”) but also convey more information (“this particular pub is wheelchair accessible, and has a beer garden”).
The same principle can be used with “shop” icons - a selection of different types of shops can be shown differently if they have one of the tags commonly used in OSM to indicate “zero waste” or “eco” shops. This is done here in the lua file that processes all OSM data before loading into the rendering database. In the case of “zero waste supermarkets”, the code looks like this:
Kosmonaudi 7, Narva
The trumpeting calls of the common cranes on their migratory flights high above Luxembourg announce autumn in September and spring in February. We look up, and for a few seconds, their V-shaped patterns peacefully mark the natural passage of time.
I live an ocean away in New York now. The colder winters last longer. When I hear about construction at home, or maybe feel a bit homesick, I turn to mapping.
Local citizen initiatives have been using OpenStreetMap’s pedestrian crossings to crowdsource data on crossings with parking spots built too close. I have been improving crossings to help out, manually going through points marked as can’t see in ZUG’s analysis. For this crossing, too recent for aerial imagery, a friend sent photos from the ground. I compared the aerial images from previous years to compare how construction had changed the area, and spotted cranes announcing the end of winter in February 2019.

Hello! We are planning a skillshare session on creating OSM diary and editing OSM Wiki. The session will be in English.
Would you like to speak on either of those topic?
If yes, please feel free to comment on this diary, message me or comment on this loomio thread.
We’d appreciate your support! :)
Thank you!

Hi everyone. I’m trying to map a sign that says that there are no motor vehicles allowed.

The sign says motor vehicles are not allowed between 8pm-midnight on Fridays, Saturdays, and the day before a bank or public holiday.
Additionally, they are not allowed between midnight and 5.30am on Saturdays, Sundays and bank and public holidays.
I want to map this using the motor_vehicle:conditional to show that they are not allowed in these times.
In practice this means they’re not allowed:
Friday: 20:00-24:00. Saturday: 00:00-05:30; 20:00-24:00. Sunday: 00:00-05:30. Day before public holiday: 20:00-24:00. Public holiday: 00:00-05:30.
The difficulty arises where a public holiday or day before a public holiday also falls on one of the other days.
E.g. on Good Friday, the road would still be closed between 20:00-24:00 as normal, but should also follow the public holiday times of 00:00-05:30 in addition to rather than instead of the regular Friday times.
Welcome to the collective, KLL!
Everyone is probably well familiar with hot_tech’s right turn and TM Tomorrow ambitions - our main goal being to work toward building more of our tech with community.
Our first step in putting these words into action is by building and investing in contributors, makers, tinkerers and users to support the maintenance, evolution and growth of humanitarian OSM tools,
It is therefore with great excitement and pleasure that I have the opportunity to officially announce the first member of this tech_collective: Kathmandu Living Labs who will be taking on the maintenance of the HOT tasking manager for the next 6 months (and possibly beyond).
Each month KLL, hot_tech (and a future community product owner), will be sitting down to identify and triage the most pressing issues expressed by the Tasking Manager community. These issues will be available for viewing as a public project on our TM github. KLL will then be applying their brilliant minds to tackling these issues to best serve the needs of Tasking Manager collective and the wider HOT and OSM communities. Monthly deployments will then be handled in collaboration with the hot_tech core team (shout out to DK and Yogesh for their often thankless behind the scenes efforts on this).
If you have issues, features or enhancements that are either new, or outstanding, I highly encourage you to start getting them shaed and consolidated in the TM github repo. Triage will be based on community resonance and response, so if there are others you know that share your issues, bringing others around these common issues will bring them up in the triage.
I for one am very excited about step toward TM tomorrow and I encourage everyone to welcome KLL and and engage in the #tasking-manager channel or submit issues via the TM github
