Changeset When Comment
52399788

I'd spend a few more characters spent in the comment explaining what you're doing would be helpful, not just "found with tinyurl" (link does not load for me; presumably it needs Javascript).
Explain what the problem is - for example in the case of node/4807083811/history it was a wikidata link that you added in error because there was a wikipedia link from this tree to the "species of tree" wikipedia page, and that you're changing that to use species:wikidata, which according to https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/search?q=wikidata is the most popular way of expressing that concept.
Also say that while you're not familiar with each individual tree you're trusting the previous mappers that they've got the species correct and that you're sanity checking each object that you're changing.
If you don't say this people will assume that you're not checking each change, because in your previous edit to e.g. node/4807083811/history you didn't.

If you want to perform a mechanical edit on OSM data then, as pointed out previously, you need to follow osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct . You are not doing this.

For completeness, I fixed 117730 a while back in changeset/45037487 (the problem was unrelated to this edit, or to wikidata).

(re Tibshelf) as of 12 days ago it does now claim to be both a village and a civil parish; only 10 months after you added the wikidata entry to the relation.
Can you guarantee that all similar errors in wikidata have been similarly corrected?

Do please ensure that you read and follow osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct before any future mechanical edits. Don't just have a bit of a chat on the talk@ list, ignore all criticism, and do it anyway.

You haven't addressed the places where you've added wikidata entries in error; the very first issue raised on this changeset discussion.

52008692

Also, the bus stop node/4942536695/history has had a wikidata link added to the network operator. Did you not do any basic sanity checking on the data your changing here (how many _bus stops_ have their own wikipedia page, seriously?)

Hi,
The wikidata entry that you added to node/2715516561/history seems to be for the brand, not for this particular object in OSM?

Andy

Hello,
On way/81776419/history you've moved "operator:wikipedia" to "brand:wikipedia". You've said in the changeset comment that "McDonalds is a brand"; but McDonalds runs a mixed franchise model and is the operator of a significant number of its own outlets (at least if you believe wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald's). What evidence do you have that McDonald's isn't the operator of this outlet?

Andy

The northern bit (just south of the Car park in Bilsthorpe) is a bit to the west of where the main rail lines were I think - see https://map.atownsend.org.uk/maps/map/map.html#zoom=18&lat=53.131153&lon=-1.033118 . Obviously it's a bit tricky here - bridleways and railways are linear features and here quite a width was occupied by the former railway.
The reason why things are "broken into sections" in OSM is because they have different attributes - as an example, way/31699331/history and way/31699015/history had a different layer tag and way/34145956/history had a bridge tag. It's perfectly normal for this to happen.

Hello Fingrmouse and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
I think something's gone a bit wrong at least up near:
way/31699323#map=18/53.13117/-1.03334&layers=C
The Southwell Trail relation was composed of several different parts, some of whicj were former railway and some of which weren't. They've now been merged together so some bits are now incorrectly tagged as abandoned railway when they aren't. What change were you trying to make here - maybe I can help fix things up?
Best Regards,
Andy

Here you added https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2407197?uselang=en-GB to node/598000917 (which is correct). Are you now going to remove it from relation/957593 which you did in error in changeset/44200317 which was the issue that I raised with you 10 months ago in changeset/43749373 ?
Note that error likely applies to every change in that changeset.

Just for info - a couple of ways of seeing long distance paths like this: https://hiking.waymarkedtrails.org/#?map=12!55.9982!-2.6546 and https://map.atownsend.org.uk/maps/map/map.html#zoom=14&lat=55.99511&lon=-2.6278 .

52341792

That doesn't say "I'm going to add lots of links that I know are wrong", which is what is being complained about here.

In particular, it doesn't address concerns raised in that thread e.g. at https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk/2017-September/078756.html (incidentally similar to what I raised at changeset/43749373#map=6/53.403/-1.581 ).

By automatically importing wikidata into OSM you're devaluing the work of all the OSM contributors who've taken the time to check the links that they're adding.

"building" is sometimes used to indicate an old phone box - node/4588450555 .

@nyuriks whereabouts was this mechanical edit discussed?

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Can you explain what way/527244266#map=16/24.7647/43.8673 is? You've added it as "coastline" here which seems unlikely.
Best Regards,
Andy

I'm guessing that some of the tags on node/60263383/history should perhaps be adjacent rather than on the crossing?
