@wambacher In this case I'm not sure that that's a good idea :)

What has "Article 2 (4) of the Charter..." to do with OpenStreetMap?
Note that the OSMF has a a policy on disputed territories - see https://wiki.osmfoundation.org/w/images/d/d8/DisputedTerritoriesInformation.pdf for that.

Just for info, I've commented on changeset/56470373 (the previous change). Erbil's been the subject of "edit wars" over language as you can see at http://osm.mapki.com/history/node.php?id=599019138 with most common version being CKB (Central Kurdish).

Hello (and welcome to OpenStreetMap!) - I'm trying to understand the reason for the name change here - as you can see from http://osm.mapki.com/history/node.php?id=599019138 the "name" tag for this place has been changed in OSM many times. Generally the "name" tag is used for a "local on the ground" name and name:XY (where XY is a language code) is used for names in different languages. Is "Arbil" a transliteration into some language?
Best Regards,
Andy

Any idea what node/4887456774/history should actually be tagged as?

56503321

Actually scratch that - it's obvious from your other recent changes that you have made.

56503321

Do you have any source for the "Gulf of Andany"? Normally "survey" would be a perfectly valid source, but in this case I suspect it's highly unlikely that there is a sign with "Gulf of Andany" on it in the middle of the sea.
Please provide details of the source that you are using, otherwise you'll be blocked as described in osm.org/user_blocks/1665 .
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend, on behalf of OSM's Data Working Group.

You should get an email notification for every message here - not sure why that's not working. Maybe go to osm.org and check the addtess there?

Which forum do you mean?

Here is a perfectly reasonable place to ask questions.

Hello shqiperietnike,
Here you've changed the "name" of tag of http://osm.mapki.com/history/node.php?id=448739405 , a Serb-majority place in Kosovo. Please don't try and enforce your language on other map users. Back in changeset/37745579 I wrote "Лепосавић / Albaniku - adding back wikipedia link, adding name:sr and alt_name:sq. Setting name to name:sr rather than name:sq based on demographics on https://sq.wikipedia.org/wiki/sq:Leposaviq and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leposavi%C4%87 ". Since then there have been many different versions, but you have consistently re-edited this place (and others) to fit your view. There's an argument for having Serb-only in the "name" tag (which I originally did) or both Serbian and Albanian (but Serbian first, since it is the majority population here) as described at changeset/55442143 and changeset/47967286 , but there isn't an argument for your version.

The name was reverted back to "pre-edit war version". See http://osm.mapki.com/history/relation.php?id=2088990 , and specifically osm.org/browse/changeset/56450586 which just changed the name without useful comment.

56251803

I asked for examples of use of cyrillic within Kosovo and you didn't provide any.
What script the Serbian OSM community is using is irrelevant; also note that relation/2088990 has "name:sr=Косово и Метохија" it's perfectly possible to create a map using this data (as is being discussed at https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=30533 )

No problem. Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hello siffash and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
Unfortunately we can't use wikipedia as a source for OpenStreetMap as the licences aren't compatible. Can you find a source for this name somewhere elsewhere that has a compatible licence?
Best Regards,
Andy

The explanation behind the country names used here can be found at the answer that I gave to the help question https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/53812/contested-border-sahrawi-morocco-decision-to-display .

Essentially OSM has its own rules for "what constitutes a country" (and in fact the United Nations has no single "list of countries" - there are many borderline cases). As that help answer explains, OSM's Data Working Group consulted with all sides of the dispute and with mappers who maintain borders elsewhere.

If you think that there's something wrong with the way that things are mapped please do discuss it with the community (https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=61207 would be a good place) or mail the Data Working Group at data@osmfoundation.org. Please don't just create a new OSM account and make just those changes, with no attempt at discussion.

Hello and welcome to OpenStreetMap!
As you can see from the orange line around this change on the map at the right when you view the changeset on the OpenStreetMap website, it overlaps with the Atlantic because some data was accidentally added there.
Best Regards,
Andy

Hello - I think something went a bit wrong. node/5402631563/history is in the middle of the sea?

Hello,
Please don't add test data to the live OpenStreetMap Server. If you want a test server, perhaps https://master.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/ would work for you?
