New here, and figured I'd start by cleaning up the data in my area (south Houston, especially around Clear Lake), which appears to mostly be a circa-2001 import. Mostly doing macro-scale cleanup now, from knowledge of the area and the Yahoo overlay: removing roads that haven't existed in years, extending roads that have been extended, marking under-construction roads as finished (if they actually got built), etc. Also upgrading some "residential" roads to tertiary or secondary for e.g. 4-lane, separated thoroughfares.

After I get through with enough of that, I suppose it'll be time to figure out how to do GPS trace uploading, so I can fill in some of the finer details, like mapping out new subdivisions that aren't in the old data at all, and new freeway ramps.

War heute in Grappertshofen bei Scheinfeld (die tracks habe ich fälschlicherweise u.a. mit "Steinfeld" beschriftet). Wenn ihr den Ort nicht kennt, macht nix! Das ist nur ein kleiner eingemeindeter Ort - sogar ohne Straßennamen (bzw mit nur einem wirklichen).
Die wenigen Straßen konnte ich also in der kurzen Zeit, die ich hatte, halbwegs ordentlich taggen. Das etwas "außerhalb" gelegene Neubaugebiet, das auch als einziges einen eigenen Straßennamen hat, habe ich nicht gemappt, ebenso wie zwei Teilstraßen. Ansonsten müssten die meisten Straßen nun drin sein (is ja nicht viel).
Als ich mir die Umgebung so etwas angeschaut habe, ist mir aufgefallen, dass im nichts einige tertiarys lagen. Das Problem war, dass dort einige Straßen falsch getaggt und dazu nicht richtig angeschlossen waren. Habe in der Region diese Fehler ausgebügelt bzw. in OpenStreetBug eingetragen.

Nun meine Frage: Wann werden diese in OSM Map sichtbar, sprich eingefügt?

I have uploaded a bunch of GPX tracks from Madeira, and edited what I think some of them are. However, they are from a relative who couldn't be persuaded to do more than just give me the tracks, so it is possible I have misinterpreted some of them. Please feel free to check them if you know the area.

Earlier today I tracked through the suburbs of Mitchelton, Oxford Park, Everton Hills and Albany Creek, in particular the parts of the Yahoo imagery that are neither aligned "well enough" nor have a constant error (and would otherwise benefit from the space+drag hack in Potlatch). GPS traces are already uploaded. I was going to just drive around to record the GPS tracks, but I couldn't help but stop every once in a while to note down street names.

I uploaded the first batch on route using some new fangled mobile phone internet thingy (-: and osmarender had already refreshed the area by the time I got back home. That's pretty cool.

Not so cool will be the tedious task of shifting the ways that were aligned to the Yahoo imagery to the truer alignment of the GPS tracks. The area in question has a mix of yahoo- and gpx-traced roads so it's difficult to automate. This will take a bit longer to show up in the map. However as I bonus I discovered various little recent housing developments, so they'll show up too.

Finally I think I already covered most of slice 6 in the upcoming Albany Creek mapping party already. (-: Didn't notice the diary entry until I got back...

If there are any Brisbane locals here, please consider attending the third Brisbane mapping party which will be held on Saturday the 7th of February. Unlike the previous two mapping parties, this one will be held in the daylight (whoa!) and will be a little more ambitious as we have more time to work with.

ich hab eine kurze frage an die osm-gemeinde: ich würde gerne eine fläche (golfplatz) aus den angrenzenden wegen/strassen erstellen. dabei handelt es sich nicht um eine einzige durchgehenden way, sonder um verschiedene mit unterschiedlichen attributen (residential, track, path etc). kann ich daraus trotzdem die fläche für den golfclub bilden oder muss ich hierfür einen eigenen way zeichnen???
