Having always held a fascination for maps, this project is right up my street!

I'd like to be able to map the Hedinghams as accurately as the equipment I possess allows, and I'm using it as a way to divert my energies away from work at least once a week. So far I've plotted all of Castle Hedingham's streets, and have started on footpaths and other features.

This weekend I've begun work on Sible Hedingham's streets, but I can see that it will take a lot of work to get it to a reasonable standard, and I'm less familiar with the footpaths.

The past few months, I've been turning the Little Miami River in Southwestern Ohio into a space-filling river. Every time I touch it, though, the area “floods”, because I keep forgetting to keep the river’s ways going clockwise and each island or sandbar going counterclockwise. Between Mapnik and Osmarender, I can’t ever keep the place dry. :^) There’s gotta be a better way.

As I wrote in my last diary entry, I'd previously gone around Australia trying to fix up 4 white polygons that could be seen around the Australian coastline (mapnik, can be seen easily at zoom level 5).
Well the good news: 2 white polygonal anomalies have disappeared, and now look like normal Aussie coastline (like it should).
The bad(ish) news, 2 white polygonal anomalies still remain. But I've gone had a look at the geometry with JOSM again, and have found and fixed up more problematic geometry. So, fingers crossed, by next week Australia will be rendered (with mapnik) white polygon anomaly-free!

I've added some minor details to Campbelltown (NSW, Australia) - footpaths and a post box, added in a few streets in Camden (NSW, Australia).

Tomorrow I hope to do some cycling, surveying some roads in Victoria.

The German train company makes available sceneries filmed on board a train in real time. What seems boring on the first thought reveals itself as a convenient way to check the elements composing an openstreet map.

To answer hkucharek's comment, I haven't seen any copyright mention on the films, nor on the website which describes the podcast. Must the copyright always be explicitly mentioned to be valid?

Completed surveying yesterday the outstanding suburban parts of Huntingdon, which now leaves only the central area inside the inner ring road, and the small area either side of the river south of the town centre. The area completed was the streets west of Coneygear Road in Oxmoor, either side of Ambury Road and American Way and the block of pre-1950 terraces and council housing north east of the ring road.

Time to put a jacket or gloves on when surveying now - it was really chilly out on the bike yesterday.
