Most browsers have HTTPS-only mode and some of them enable it by default (https://blog.google/security/https-by-defau/). Propose to avoid adding ‘https://’ at least to “bare” links. It’s useful to change http -> https where needed, but propose leave as-is something like ‘facebook.com/qwe’.

BTW, guess, that we will need opposite bot - who will erase ‘https://’ prefix soon.
