You should use it regardless. It's good practice.

Have fun mapping!

Hey FvGordon,

Please use the proper imagery for an area -this can be adjusted in the editor's layer menu-. If you are unsure which layer(s) to use, contact the local community.
https://openstreetmap.community/
Otherwise, use one of the global channels.

For The Netherlands, please use PDOK aerial imagery Beeldmateriaal.nl 25cm latest

(Also, remember to check whether there is any offset.)

Daniel

Hey Mariateresa,

A few outer lines marking the edges of where you have mapped are incorrectly marked as natural=dune, e.g. way/983130480/history

Also, what differentiates this sand way/941472293/history from the sand around it, except from its color and possibly elevation? Please explain.

Hey -and welcome- Katya,

I have updated both ferry terminals to reflect the new two-deck ferry.

If you see any issues, just comment below.

Ok. Thanks for the explanation.

Hey Nad_Alley,

Are you sure this is a house? It's recommended to tag with building=yes if you do not have local knowledge / have not surveyed it.

Daniel

Hey oneoftheordinary,

Please see osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments

I also sent you a message on the OSM World Discord, so I'm sure you'll see this one way or the other :)

Hey and welcome Nadabindu,

Only map what is specified by the task, please. The task specifies to map buildings, not ways -i.e. paths-.

Adding layer \ tunnel or similar tagging is invalid for this path. It can be clearly seen from aerial imagery and at no point does it go underground. This may be considered vandalism.

I have manually reverted your changes.

Sidenote: There was one part which wasn't in the right place, I've moved this to its correct position.

Hey sab27,

"retagged two features mapped as building as natural=shrub"
Do not do this, please. If you are absolutely certain these objects were interpreted incorrectly -as buildings in this case-, correct their tagging where appropriate, but in the case of 'buildings' you should simply remove them.
Re-tagging/using objects as something completely different may be considered bad practice or even vandalism.

See a.o. the "Don't mix the history" section of the "Good practice" page on the wiki:
osm.wiki/Keep_the_history#Don.27t_mix_the_history
^ Also, the above section on checking the history/source for which imagery was used

Sidenote: It seems both objects were mapped by the same user and are the only objects mapped in the changeset. You can check the changeset for more objects which may be wrong if there were any, but *more importantly* can send the user feedback or mention them on the HOT project's discussion section \ alert managers if any other changesets also do this.

Daniel

*and fixed issues.

110678464

*and removed demolished building (actively removed).

78543082

way/447122209/history
Note, this way has a very short segment which now has an inconsistent classification. Nothing you could have seen so quickly, unless you followed the way very closely. You may also come across very short segments like this when there's bridges, however.
This should surface in Osmose or a MapRoulette challenge eventually, but it's always nice when we can avoid these issues altogether.

Daniel

110655591

node/9051393054/history
Note, this way has a node with a "fixme" tag. If it's resolved, you can remove it. Otherwise, remove the old one and add a new one at the new end node of the way, or leave the way alone. Someone will come by to map it eventually regardless (unless an noexit tag is set specifically, but you may already know this).

Sidenote: In this case, the road does continue on further south, however it seems someone has interpreted a shadowed part of the road as a building, making it harder to see this unless you look closer.

Daniel

Only map in the square you are assigned, please. Make sure you save edits in the top right before moving to another task. Large changeset bounding boxes make it hard to review your edits and appear in local history elsewhere.

Do not forget to add a tag to an object.

Use building=yes for buildings, please.

Square your building by pressing Q or right clicking and pressing "Square". If it will not square, move corners closer to a square shape and try again.

https://learnosm.org/en/beginner/id-editor/#id-editor-user-interface

Salut,

Daniel
