How 'Dienst Mobiliteit Antwerpen' contributes to Panoramax & Mapillary

Such an example of sustainability, I’ve sent the link to an Irish senator of the Green Party who was reasonably impressed, I think.

GoPro Max Settings for Mapillary

I must try that. Do you have the camera mounted on a helmet or some other solution? Because I cannot use the mount and have the lenses face sideways.

Barrow Navigation - waterway mapping and water-level imagery

I think it was every 10 seconds, because the barge was slow, about 4 to 5 knots, if I remember correctly. Btw, interesting to see that OSMAnd changed the speed unit to knots automatically.

Maybe they can be put in a master relation, because that route in Cornwall looks similar to the one on the official website.

Tracking new rural bus route & capturing street-level imagery

@myozone: The GoPro Max does that automatically, even though it’s a few meters off.

On Tour in the Netherlands

Thanks very much! I hope I won’t ever need to follow these instructions, but it’s good to have them.

On Tour in the Netherlands

@Peter Bremer: Thanks for you comment. I deleted that sequence already, thankfully I’ll have another chance going that direction. Are there any how-tos or videos out there you would recommend to explain how to fix the centre of the 360 imagery? (I know there’s a word for it; I just can’t remember it.)

Thank you for your comment, Taya_S! We’re enjoying ourselves a lot, thanks!

Mapping Indianola, Iowa 2

I wouldn’t know enough about mapping in the States to do anything about that. I added addr:street to some of the houses, though. It’s up to the locals to do their share now.

Obviously, addresses are more important than defibrillators, but I thought that was a given.

@sykul: I think I’m quite competitive (mostly with myself), when it comes to mapping which keeps me going. Setting myself certain goals and then going beyond. And visualization helps, so checking the progress and seeing the buildings appear on the actual map or checking the differences on f4map, for example.

@Awoobis: Thanks. I just used good old fashioned manual mapping in JOSM and Bing imagery. I probably missed a couple of buildings hiding under trees, but over 6,000 buildings still make a difference.

The WW1 Western Front demarcation stones

Very interesting project, well done.

What's up with #osmIRL_buildings #2

Have you considered that the imagery has been updated since the mapping stage was finished, even for some tasks mapped in 2020? This task has been open for four years and has possibly seen three Bing imagery updates in that time. The perks of being close to the capital; very few other regions in Ireland and with that the tasks have had that privilege.

I’m fairly sure Fingal has had two Bing updates, when Kilkenny has had none, for example.

OSM - Schulung

Ich kann nicht helfen, aber als Exil-Thüringerin finde ich die Initiative großartig. Davon kann ich hier in Irland nur träumen.

Mapping unrecorded burial grounds

Thanks, I’ve added that information to the image description.

Week 2 of EU Camera Grant Project (camera #3)

Hi Milhouse, thanks for taking the time to comment. House numbers are not really legible on the imagery, but luckily, I had mapped them all already. In one estate where I hadn’t, I had the camera in one hand and used StreetComplete with the other which wasn’t ideal, but I didn’t walk through the estate twice.

The quality from walking with a selfie stick is still better than on the helmet, but maybe my helmet is also not stable enough in my head.

Et voila: panoramax

Oh, good question, I completely forgot to write about that aspect! Will add it to the text.
