As a surveying student, I make the move today to create an Open Street map sub-group for my institution, The federal polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun state, Nigeria, for the student of the department of Surveying and Geoinformatics, faculty of environmental science. Doing so will help the student to acquire more knowledge about mapping and helping their communities in managing human and natural disasters through mapping. I contact the OSM Nigeria coordinator (Mr Divine Victory) of my desire to expand the OSM community to my Institution which he’s excited about. I believe in due time the students will have a training on mapping that would enable them to contribute more to the universe at large.
