Oops - some buildings and building nodes got dragged into the middle of the sea here. See node/762380470/history#map=17/46.19626/38.20465 .

Hello,
In this changeset you've added some things to the middle of the Indian Ocean. Are you using "geoMapTool" for that? If so, please stop using it immediately - it is broken.
Please contact OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group in data@osmfoundation.org so that we can explain the problem in more detail.
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend, on behalf of OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group.

No, that won't work, because someone on Sardinia will say "I think the names should remain Sardo/Italian, like there were before". The "current choice of name" was simply based on what was mapped at the time the DWG intervened in the edit war; it's for the local community to decide what the names should be. Please take part in the ongoing discussion. I'll change this back, if you try and change them again you'll be blocked (and any sock-puppet accounts, likewise).

Andy Townsend, on behalf of OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group.

Hello,
I've changed this back in changeset/43854247 . The reason why was because names in Sardinia had been subject to a "tit for tat" series of changes (which you can see from the high version numbers of the objects in this changeset). In
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-it/2016-September/054885.html I explained that further changes would be changed back, and the names kept as they were while the discussion continues.
This is one of your first edits to OpenStreetMap, so please don't be disheartened - there are lots of things that you can add to the map, both in Sardinia and beyond.
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend, on behalf of OpenStreetMap's Data Working Group.

Thanks for fixing, anyway!

Hello,
Please don't add test data to the live OpenStreetMap Server. If you want a test server, perhaps http://api06.dev.openstreetmap.org/ would work for you?

Andy

The relevant link over at learnosm is https://github.com/hotosm/learnosm/issues/335 .

43841610

For info, this is the "learnosm" test data.
What's supposed to happen is that there's a big warning in there to not upload it to OSM. Sometimes, however, that warning gets ignored (understandably - JOSM generates and awful lot of warnings) and the data gets uploaded anyway.

This is actually a duplicate of node/3815077900 .
The wikipedia "null island" link is inappropriate here since that refers to the fictional place, not the an actual PIRATA buoy.
Also note that it's rarely exactly at "null island" - some historical data is at http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/data/realtime2/13010.drift .

43801435

You really will have to fix that bug which causes things to be moved to null island before the negative App Store reviews start rolling in!

By all means add your business to OpenStreetMap (provided it's a real bricks-and-mortar office, not just a web page).
However please add it at the correct location, not in the middle of the road, and don't add spammy "description" information, or spam notes.

For info, in Lithuania I'd strongly suggest that you contact the local community, based on a complaint to a previous wikidata-adder in the area:

Just checking - are you sure about the location of node/33753513/history ? I was there last month, and while there is a sluice at this location the machinery's all at the other end by the mill building itself.
