Changeset When Comment

Hi JulzGh, welcome to OSM. The name you added to the building is an address. To add an address, add a node in front of or at the centre of the building and add addr:housenumber=* and addr:street=* to add the number and street. You can see many examples of them at the centre of Accra.

I see you fixed them here. You can ignore my comment on the previous changeset.

Hi Jagri Matulnbe Gladys, you forgot to add the building=yes tag to most of the buildings in this changeset.

Hello Abdul Rahman78,

Welcome to OpenStreetMap, and thanks for contributing to the map!

There are still many unmapped buildings in the area that would be great to add. The changes in this edit, however, affected buildings that were already mapped accurately and made them less precise. Please try to avoid modifying well-mapped features.

Thank you for your contributions, and happy mapping!

Adding building=yes is enough. Don't add name=building; it's a generic name and doesn't distinguish it from any other building.

You also add random tags to nodes on buildings. Kindly pay attention and avoid this error.

When the editor raises errors while saving, it means you have mistakes. Please fix them before you upload your changes.

The building=yes tags are missing

Hello Jagri Matulnbe Gladys, always remember to add the building=yes tag. Most of the buildings you added here do not have them.

Avoid adding random nodes with no tags.

Keep your bounding boxes small; if you map in an area, upload that before you start mapping in another area far away.

Hi Albert Sam, welcome to OSM. Only official names are added in the name=* tag. Other descriptive details like location are not part of the name. They are recorded with other tags, e.g addr:city=*, addr:suburb=* etc. Further details can also be provided in the description=*.

The changes here will be reverted.

A lot of the roads you added here intersect existing buildings. I also doubt whether these are roads. They seem to be spaces around buildings that a car could pass through, but not actually roads.

Hi SELASI_EDMUND, welcome to OSM.

You've added "building map from the scratch" as changeset comment to all your changesets thus far. The changeset comment is for describing what you did e.g, added buildings, updated name, etc.

Moreover, you're not mapping from scratch. There are already mapped objects, so you should either edit them or replace them. Drawing over them is not acceptable practice. Pay attention to existing objects and don't duplicate them. The Kade Market was already mapped.

You have also been adding addr:housenumber=123 to all objects. That cannot be right.

Names of places should be in Name Case, but not UPPER CASE.

I'd suggest you read a little bit on https://learnosm.org/en/ to familiarise yourself with how mapping is done on OSM.

Thank you

Hi sv bhavya, the road you added overlaps the footway (way/623707810). Intersecting highways should have a shared node.

Hello Perst0, welcome to OSM. Note that the changes you upload are live and part of the real data. This is no playground, so you shouldn't be making example or trial edits.

The road you added here is connected to a waterway

Hi, consider dealing with warnings before you save. The road you added crosses buildings, which from current imagery, no longer exist.

Hi BinkalB, your changeset comment says "added building", but edited a place node as a clock. Review what you edit before you hit save.

Hi monsoonheat, welcome to OSM. Roads shouldn't cross buildings, so avoid that when mapping. JOSM will always show that as a warning, so fix them before you upload.

Hi BinkalB, building=1 is not a valid tag. Use building=yes

Hi Mensah Silas, welcome to OSM. Please take a critical look before you upload/save what you map. I doubt you'd find a building in the middle of the road.

Hi Nsumba Joshua,
Welcome to OSM. The name=* tag is for the name of the object mapped, but not the name of the mapper. Take note and avoid doing that in future edits.
