Why "place=island;islet"?

My point is that I can see two issues here:

1. Access restriction mapped as a "way". Shape of this way is not verifiable and thus should not be mapped.

2. The second is that the way is mapped as "protected area". Which is not true.

I can suggest add "access=no" to the water area instead.
