As Im driving around alot I keep colleting data for this openstreet project.
So I collected alot of data for Netanya, Hadera, Naariya and alot of other streets and areas (Dead sea, Kinereth, highways and so on.)

Did some roads around Logan and its suburbs. It really needs some attention, although the Gold Coast needs more. I also filled in some wooded area between Woodridge and Calamvale. Did my best on that one.

I have a Delorme Earthmate LT-20 USB GPS mouse going spare. It's nothing special, just a GPS receiver for your laptop. By using the Delorme Serial Emulator software (free - I'll supply it on CD-R) it will output in NMEA. It will need some sort of mapping/datalogging software to make it useful for map making. As far as I know it's windows only. It may work on Linux, but will not work on Mac (I've tried!).

Fully tested and working, and in the nature of OSM, FREE! (I've just bought a new logger/mouse combo)

Would suit someone with a laptop who wants to record tracks for OSM while driving.

Mail me and let me know why you'd like it and how you'd use it to help OSM. I will post it free of charge to person I judge as most deserving! (UK only please - I can't really afford to post overseas)

Vor der Arbeit noch schnell einen Schlenker über den Hohwiesenweg zur Erfassung gemacht. Diverse Korrekturen (Brücken, Benamung, Wegauszeichnungen etc.) im Bereich Pforzheim-Ost eingepflegt. Immer noch genug übrig. :-(

Feldstetten hab ich in 1,5 Stunden vervollständigt. Mit dem Rad geht das klasse. Leider hatte ich meinen Foto nicht dabei, so dass die Straßennamen vermutlich nochmal zu überprüfen wären ;-)

Die Wege zwischen Heroldstatt und Feldstetten sind erfasst. Manche zu kleine Sackgassen hätte man vielleicht weglassen können. Und manche grade4/5 Waldwege gäbe es noch zu erkunden.

Was mich wundert ist, dass es gar keinen Wald in diesem Teilstück gibt. Da hatte der Mapper, der den angelegt hat wohl einen blinden Fleck auf dem Auge ;-)

Hallo,
ich möchte für eine Wanderung eine Karte mittels OSM erstellen. Die Wanderstrecke ist als relation erstellt. Mit Kosmos kann ich mir lokal eine Karte erstellen. Jetzt möchte ich aber (ähnlich wie die GoogleMaps API) eine Karte mit der Wanderstrecke auf meiner Internetseite verlinken. Die OSM-Karte soll der Hintergrund sein, meine Wanderstrecke als transparenter Layer darüberliegen.
Kennt jemand eine Lösung? Ist sie so einfach, dass ich sie übersehen habe?

I would like to start giving my contribution to the community. I would like to find a decent handset, not too expensive, possibly to fit on the bike, although this is not strictly necessary. I would like it to have a screen and be Mac-friendly. To be bought in the UK.
I checked the wiki but can't make up my mind, as I don't know the differences in the handsets.
Any suggestions?

Am Mittwoch 3. September fand beim Verein Lust auf Internet e.V. in Laichingen ein Informationsabend zum Thema OpenStreetMap statt. Nachdem wir dazu auch in der Presse eingeladen hatten, war der Abend sehr gut besucht, sodass wir doch einige Leute für das Projekt OSM begeistern konnten.

I posted some ideas on how to improve the situation with inexperienced mappers using potlach. If got many comments on that one so I can see others thought about that, too. And I'm really happy that almost all of these were productive comments. It might be worth reading them (osm.org/user/egore911/diary/3177) but I'll summarize a few them here for you.

* It seems potlachs undo/redo feature isn't the best right now. Please help the authors fixing these by pointing out what exactly is wrong with it. Having a good undo/redo is really necessary for a clean workflow.

* Potlach will gain support for "highlighting" bridges. This is really good to know and I really look forward to it.

* One can't compare JOSM with Potlach. Some people try to say this one is slower or that one has more features, this one is more intuitive, etc. One should use whatever he is confident with. I use JOSM because I'm a Java developer myself and if something is not working with JOSM I can implement it (i.e. I added importing NMEA files to JOSM and wrote a patch to configure the proxy using the GUI). I also like the "stand alone application" more than the "web client" approach. But that's personal taste.

* Some people suggested guiding people to learn how to map. This might be a possible solution but I think it's a hard one. I think the "average user" will have a learning curve like the following:
1.) Look at the map and see that some streets in his neighbourhood are missing
2.) Starting potlach
3.) Clicking around in potlach to add the street to his best knowledge
4.) Finding more streets missing
5.) Adding more streets and looking at existing streets to gain knowledge about them.
6.) Adding more streets ...
I think starting with mapping isn't hard but error-prone.

* It seems for the crossing/link there are no yahoo aerial images available. I still wonder what method was used to add the incorrect information than.

Habe gestern die noch fehlenden 40 Straßen in Niendorf abgeradelt, aufgezeichnet und eingetragen. Dabei hat sich eine Straße als zugewachsener Feldweg entpuppt und eine erwartete Brücke existiert nicht mehr. Eine Bitte an alle Luftbild-Nachzeichner: Erst das Luftbild anhand der meist zahlreich verfügbaren GPS-Tracks ausrichten (in Potlatch mit Leertaste+Maus). So musste ich zunächst viele bereits vorhandene Straßen, Gebäude und Gebiete um 20 Meter nach Nordwest verschieben. Sonst passt irgendwann nichts mehr zusammen.

Nachdem nun hochauflösende Luftaufnahmen von Neumarkt/Oberpfalz vorliegen, mache ich mich mal daran, die bisher kaum erfassten Gemeinden mit einem groben Straßennetz zu versehen.

Heute fuhr ich eine 1,5-stündige Tour nach Kriegsdorf. Dort fehlten folgende Straßen in OpenStreetMap:

- Offenbachstraße 14-22
- Im Schonsfeld
- Brahmsstraße
- Humperdinckstraße

Wie immer notierte ich fehlende Bushaltestellen, Spielplätze, eine Kirche und mehrere Glascontainer.

Am 30. August war es wieder soweit: Die Mapping-Tour führte mich nach Langel - ein Stadtteil von Köln. Nach vier Stunden enthielt mein Notizblock folgende Straßen:

Fuß- und Radwege, Bushaltestellen, Spielplätze eine Kirche, ein Friedhof, Glascontainer, eine Feuerwache und Absperrungen komplettieren die zu erfassenden POIs.

Hi. Discovered OSM recently and immediately started to map my area, focusing on all the cycleways i'm using to ride on my mountainbike . Any comments welcome. What's the best way to tag good paths/tracks that can be used when mountainbiking though not exclusively reserved for that usage?
