First time I've done mapping using mainly just my iphone (and my motorbike). Just took a picture of each street name using the phone then went through them using Josm and the AgPifoJ plugin. Seems to work well enough, but I found that if I added them all at once in JOSM, I got really confused about exactly which was where. However, adding them one by one made a lot more sense (I also noticed that the photo icon stays grey until you click on it, when it turns red).

One odd thing, is that sometimes the photos often showed up at the last location I stopped. However, I think this may be more an iphone problem than a AgPifoJ one.

The webpage listing the unnamed streets is obviously invaluable doing something like this
http://dev.openstreetmap.org/~random/no-names/?zoom=16&lat=51.42933&lon=-0.10785&layers=0B000

I just tried to use GPSMapEdit to test routing in the danish part of the OSM map, and there is along way ahead of us.

So for the long winter evenings without enough traces to work on, I think I am going to verify the routing of the existing ways with GPSMapEdit.

What I do is like this:
Use wget http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/europe/denmark.osm.bz2 to get the proper data.
Use java -Xmx512M -jar "mkgmap-r630\mkgmap.jar" to create a proper IMG file
Use GPSMapEdit from http://www.geopainting.com/en/ to build and verify routing
First thing to do in GPSMapEdit is to build the Routing list with
"Tools->Genrate Routing Graph -> Using Coinciding Nodes of Polylines"
And finally the "Test Routing Graph".

This reveals a lot of places where ways seems to be connected but there is a little gap. It also has revealed several places of roads with incorrect oneway direction and even missing oneway dairections.

Added the "Verlengde Bergse Pad", a track only for walking. With two bridges and one of them is also a cattle_grid. Two stiles, one at each end. You'll have to open a gravity closing gate there. (Gate posts are slanted so it closes on it's own)

I'm not to sure how I would appropiately tag this footway. I would say highway:footway and track:grade5 because that's what it is, really. Can the two exist together? For now I only gave it the highway:footway tag, untill I know better.

I created it with the aid of an OSM gpx trace.

A few hours before, I also added a lot of streams, small waterbodies and a lot of natural:wood patches. This is going to look so nice when it's all finished!

Also today I fiddled with the multipolygon (again). I found in the history that one half of it didn't have the multipolygon number and the other did. I seem to have done it right this time. We just have to wait and see how the mighty renderers swallow it.

Wer will das fertigstellen? :-)

Hi,

I've start to map the eastern montreal with yahoo picture but I'm now searching a cheap gps receiver so I could use geotagged picture to add all the feature around here and some pedestrian path that I cannot figure out on the yahoo map or that I did from memory (so not so precise).

so if anyone have a clue of were to find a little gps receiver (bluetooth would be preferable but usb is just fine) the I could use with my laptop (linux or windows but I prefere linux since some pluggin of JSON doesn't work well on win)

thanks for help if you can.

I added some roads that where not on the map already and corrected others in and around Ankeveen. Tracked them first with OSMTracker on a 10km bike ride. That was fun!

People in the street where wondering a little what this guy was up to, riding up till every endpoint in the roads.

I had also a good view of streams there. I will go there some more with a piece of paper and draw in those streams as far as I can seen them.

Hi!

First entry, after I got my garmin and mapped my homevillage (Wendhausen, Germany).
Today I went with a friend into the Baernschuetzklamm at Mixnitz.
I always wanted to do more hiketrips, weather is really fine (30 degree celsius and sunshine) and that hiketrip wasn´t mapped yet.
We got heavy in sweat (yeah, a job in a office is no sport or training), but finally we got through the flume via ladders and all other stuff.
Luckily the written path looks very fine, it even fills a gap of the train route near nothern Graz.
Now I rest, tomorrow another trip with steam train.
