What can I say, got E66 month ago; one thing leads to another, and here I am.

Been recording my walks around home area for few days now, collecting GPS data for the basis of tuning the map nearby. After looking at it I realized it sure needs some "fixing". Wonder where all those imaginary bus stops appeared from, lol. And someone has added a POI (or some such) for a local bar, but not for the cash machine. Huh. Usually the needs for them tend to go hand in hand.

While looking at the tracks I now noticed I'd better keep the phone in my hand instead of in the pocket. When I held it in my hand in front of me, the tracks look really smooth, e.g. tops 1-2m deviations from straight line when walking along straight street with no buildings blocking the sky. When in pocket, the track goes 5-10m here and there in less than 10-20 secs.

If I continue recording the walking trips like now, I should be ready to start mapping in a week or two.

Yeah - I've managed to be the first ;-) to add a new roundabout at crossing Sedanstraße - Moltkestraße in Ulm (still under construction, but ALMOST finished...). Althoug my GPS Log was quite poor (despite an average HDOP of ~1,5), I think it fits quite accurate.
Hope I didn't disturb any other users data, since I'm an OSM noob.....

SZ-Beddingen und Umgebung weiter vervollständigt.

Ich bin neu in der GPS-Gemeinde, weil ich feststellen musste, dass die Umgebung von Husum/Nordsee noch viele weiße Flecken auf OpenStreetMap aufweist. Das möchte ich beheben. Als Grundlage für mein GPSmap-60CSx würde ich gern die vorhandenen Karten aus OpenStreetMap herunterladen, um sie gezielt zu ergänzen. Wer kann mir einfach!!! erklären wie das geht?

Am 11.8.2008 noch folgede Campingplätze und deren Zufahrten in Norwegen ergänzt:

Eben habe ich das Ortsstraßennetz von Gottenheim komplett. Einige POI sind auch vermerkt. Mit der Erkundung des Wegenetzes in den Weinbergen werde ich noch eine Weile zu tun haben. Es soll wohl ein tag für landuse Weinberge geben. Habe es aber noch nicht auf einer Karte gesehen. Da der Tuniberg überwiegend mit Reben bewachsen ist, werde ich irgendwann dies vermerken.
Jedenfalls enden viele meiner Erkundungen zu Fuß oder mit dem Rad im Tuniberg auf einem Weinfest oder einer Weinschänke. Danke, openstreetmap!

Zalew w Klimkówce powstał w 1994 roku i jest on jednym z najmłodszych sztucznych jezior w Polsce. Zapora wodna na Ropie w górnej części zamyka "Gorlickie Pieniny". Budowę zapory rozpoczęto w latach 70. XX wieku. Zapora wodna przegrodziła dolinę rzeki w najwęższym miejscu. Wody zalewu znajdują się na długości ponad 5 km, z cofką dochodzącą pod Uście Gorlickie. Wzdłuż brzegu znajduje się wiele małych zatoczek, linia brzegowa jest bardzo urozmaicona. Powstanie zalewu w Klimkówce wiąże się z nowymi funkcjami turystyczno - rekreacyjnymi terenów wokół jeziora oraz całego Beskidu Niskiego.

Another 3789 objects uploading on JOSM. This upload has an estimated time of ~45mins, that's my longest yet I think.

Newcastle is *nearing* completion. I'd guestimate that there's 1 or 2 night's of work left to trace the rest of the roads, parks, bushland, streams/drains and shopping centers.

I hope a lot more people get involved to collect names and POIs.

I visited a part of Flintshire where somebody had already traced the roads from Yahoo images. This was quite well done but inevitably some roads in the older, leafier areas had been missed and I'm not sure that it took me less time, either in the field or when editing, than if the tracing had not been done. More importantly I enjoyed the experience less. In virgin territory you feel like an explorer; when just collecting street names you feel like a train-spotter.

Habe die Robert-Koch-Straße, Hüttenstraße, Teile der Formerstraße, Zum Waldblick und Zum Wasserturm eingetragen.

Werde in der nächsten Zeit meinen Arbeitsweg zum Aufzeichnen benutzen und unseren Stadtteil vervollständigen.

Wäre doch gelacht, wenn die Community nicht aktueller und genauer wäre als die Konkurenz.

Bei der B249 bei Eschwege gibts noch gravierende Fehler. Die Bundestraße teilt sich teilweise auf, was derzeit noch nicht richtig eingezeichnet ist. Ich werde es bei Gelegenheit nochmal abfahren und bearbeiten. Falls es jemand vorher schafft, so ist es natürlich auch toll!

Ich habe Trace Haan5 und Haan6 hoch geladen. Da ich aber die Umwandelung in Strassen nicht beherrsche, bitte ich jemanden, dass für mich zu machen. Tags anlegen Straßen trennen und mit Namen versehen, kann ich dann selber machen.

Today myself and my usual expedition buddy went to map the path from Dry Drayton to Lolworth and the path from Lolworth to Childerley. In the process, we discovered that Childerley is not a real village despite being mentioned on multiple footpath and byway signs in the area. It doesn't exist...

Now, there's Childerley Gate near the A428, which does indeed exist. But the Childerley pointed to by the footpath / byway signs does not exist. Interesting. There's a huge farm there and plenty of public footpaths passing through. There is also a small collection of houses around a central street that look suspiciously like a village but apparently aren't. There's no right of way to Childerley Gate from here but a farmer kindly gave us permission to use their private access road to the south (presumably this used to be a public road to the village), which we used to bail out of the area and back onto normal roads.

NPE Map has a fix on where Childerley "should" be ( http://www.npemap.org.uk/tiles/map.html#535,261,1 ). The legend "CHILDERLEY" presumably marks the old Parish of Childerley. Childerley Hall seems to have turned into the modern farm, although it's possible the original building lurks in somewhere. The farm's private access road appears to be the original public road into the village / settlement. The was even the little row of houses next to it, adjacent to the farm, presumably the original residences.

At some time since then, the village seems to have ceased to exist as a settlement and has become part of a large private estate - albeit with many public rights of way running through it.

Since I was going back to my home town of Cardiff, Wales recently, I thought I'd see how much of it is on OpenStreetMap. Finding out that very little of Cardiff North is on there, I was mortified, and have set out to remedy this. Cardiff seriously needs some OSM love, so knowing my own area, and almost all the streets very well, I have so far managed to get pretty much all of the suburbs of Rhiwbina and Pantmawr on OSM in quite a bit of detail, and parts of Thornhill, Llanishen and Lisvane and Parc Code y Wenallt too.

I suspect this is going to be a long term task, and hopefully, given someone else has already done some excellent work in Cardiff, I may find some others with local knowledge who are taking this City on. Certainly the next time I am in Cardiff, I intend to do some serious wandering around with my Garmin GPS.

I was up in Aberdeen for a friend's wedding this weekend. I should've dedicated more time to eating a hearty breakfast, making sure my shirt was properly ironed, and also just chilling out in preparation for a long night of ceilidh dancing...

...but with all those unnamed streets, I couldn't resist a morning mapping expedition.

Data from that, and data from the Borough (but actually Bermondsey) mapping evening to be input some time soon.

Je me suis mis à cartographier les lieux que je connais et j'ai corrigé quelques d'infos (notamment sur le sens des rues) sur d'autres endroits déjà faits, c'est vraiment agréable à faire.

J'utilise ce système de cartographie pour une solution de suivi de véhicules bien qu'il soit moins bon que Google Maps ou Virtual Earth pour une question de license. Donc j'essaye de corriger petit à petit les endroits où les véhicules sont dans le gris. Et avec les tracés GPS c'est assez facile.

Added some roads off Scholarstown road D16, need to name check some of these. Also added two more dublin airport car parks, one for staff and one for hotel also added catering buildings. Centre of airport is looking more complete, need to add swimming pool, bus stops and more parking.
