Users' Diaries

Recent diary entries

I spent a fun hour turning most of NCN2 along the South Coast into a relation. There looks to have been some recent accidental vandalism by new users of Gregory Williams' orginal work: my guess is new uesers just not understanding the ncn_ref tag and deleting it. I had to refer back to cycle map renders to follow the route sometimes.

Well, turns out I created myself a textbook example of the situation I described in my previous diary. I cannot fix the typo in Potlatch with the name of a street I created because the nearby park overlaps it.

(The area is traced in Osmarender but not Mapnik)

Got behind with the diary. Yet three edits happened in these, almost, 3 months:

Long time ego (in a galaxy...) was a car trip to Galeria Bałtycka, which led to tracking south-going lane of the Rzeczypospolitej/Chłopska then Wyspiańskiego, Pomorska.

There was a bike trip to Gołębiewo, which gave Reja, Gręzowo, Wielka Gwiazda, Leśnik, 23 Marca etc.

And just yesterday was the Malczewskiego/Sopocka-Brodwino-Kamionka trip.

PS: In the defense of my lag, let me allege lending of my GPS for the whole August. :P

So, I improved the mapping of the UdM campus (or so I dare to think). Mostly this involved adding/fixing building outlines and adding a few surrounding features as well as pedestrian paths/tunnels. Also adjusted the position of Côte-des-Neiges station, which was position too much to the north. I'm worried about the reduced accessibility caused by the combination of several areas being attached to a single way. If the entire length of a way later becomes part of the edge of something, can the way sill be edited? What it there are several embedded areas involved?

In related concerns, neither renderer seems to be able to deal with the possibility of some features bordering each others, such as cemeteries. Is it a current bug or a feature that some areas are drawn without bordering edges?

On the other end, I found out about the "data" layer, which is awesome to get a rough idea of what you've done.

Today I made a short bicycle trip with my brand new Neo Freerunner. I wanted to test its GPS and used this chance to update two regional cycle routes, nr. 74 and 64 (I drove from Mühlethurnen via Belp, Rubigen to Ostermundigen).
The first route was already partly existing, so I could use this route. For the second I created a new route which may be used from now on.
