In my last post I forgot to say that an aparently similar coastline problem is present in New Jersey and Staten Island. Starting by the north in the Hudson River coast just in front of Yonkers, ending around Long Branch, NJ in the Atlantic coast by the south.
I just checked Eastern Island (Rapa Nui), and find out that it is pretty much traced. But it isn't rendering right. I compared the coastline trace with some of the well rendered islands in the caribean and they look the same.
Does anybody know whats wrong with it?
Happened to find myself in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, again yesterday. Didn't have time to do a whole area of streets, so mapped out the Abbey gardens, an extensive amenity dotted with historic ruins, gardens etc.
Completed my first piece of proper GPS road mapping with the tiny village of Papworth St Agnes, one of a small handful on the todo list for South Cambs. Very pretty, though only two roads to map, plus phonebox, postbox, church and the start of a few footpaths.
Just down the road, one missing street needed to be added to nearby Graveley, which now looks road-complete to me. There's a network of tracks to the south-west of the village on the former airfield which I didn't explore. These are car-accessible but signposted as private. Suitably some people were flying a remote-controlled plane there today.
Mapped some in the car and more on foot as I was hanging around there anyway. I'm there whilst my kids do their music school, so will try to fill it out.
Habe jetzt.
Got a reasonable amount of Farnham mapping data to upload again and confirmed some data from the mini-meet last weekend. But its so sunny out! Actually I should swap my chain on my bike over first, especially with all the cycling I plan to do tomorrow.
Anyone doing OSM-related stuff, promotion or evangelism at any of the hubs or elsewhere for London Freewheel tomorrow (Sun 21st)?

Hi there,
starting on mapping up the Malmö central town area a bit better with my FreeRunner, anyone interested in helping out?

Yahoo sucks for the part, where i living. I'm spending some of my time to walk, cycle and drive with my Freerunner to draw my city. I thought about buying some aerial photos [1], but I don't know if there are some legal issues for making the beautiful map of my city. Of course, I have mailed to them and asked: Can I make maps from your photos? - they said: "Yes". Okay. That is one side of the medal. If someone ask me - how do you made this map (where's source?), must I show him the source?
Heute wurde Hofstetten (AT/Niederöstereich) begonnen.
more details to come...
Combination of weather and other things to do held up going back to Huntingdon until yesterday. Worked on the rather dull estates in the eastern side of Huntingdon, known as Oxmoor, merging into the former village, now suburb, of Hartford. Lots of fiddly connecting footways. Probably two more trips remaining to do: western side of Oxmoor and the town centre.
I have been mapping for a while now. The yahoo satellite images are very helpful, but sometimes seriously outdated.
I wonder if there is an other way of adding roads aside from driving there and using gps (and have people stare at you, when on foot or bicycle).
Also, if you are mapping in Belgian Limburg, feel free to contact me.
I sorted out the intersection of Moray Street with City Road. Unfortunately the intersection is hidden under a bridge, so the yahoo imagery isn't great for working out what is going on.
I just stumbled onto this project a couple of days ago and thought it was a really cool undertaking and something I wanted to participate in, at least in some capacity. After doing a little reading to familiarize myself with the goals and motivations behind the project, I made a personal commitment to try to learn how to use the software properly and make sure that my own neighbourhood (in North York [aka Toronto], Ontario) was both accurate and fully accounted for. I figure if everyone does the same, then (at least the "used") world will be accounted for.
I spent a few hours last night reading the Wiki, watching the intro videos, and browsing familiar places in my neighbourhood to check (i) if they existed and (ii) to what degree of accuracy.
Since I don't have GPS, I guess I'm not really contributing to 'mapping' per se, but at least I can help with editing, tagging and ensuring the accuracy of the areas around me. I'm also going to solicit the (free) help of my mother who is an urban planner and should be able to help shed light on the definitions and distinctions made in and around the GTA and surrounding areas. She herself is potentially willing to help map and tag the area around our family cottage which seems non-existent at present.
