i am glad to join the open street map. I am located close to Heidelberg, Germany.
Hope i find time to contribute some mtb tracks of the hills and forests of this area.

Ich habe OSM auf meinem OpenMoko Freerunner im Echteinsatz gehabt und bin damit in Hannover-Laatzen spazieren gegangen (TangoGPS als Software und vorher daheim die Kacheln des Gebietes auf die MicroSD-Karte geladen), das hat sehr schön geklappt. Ich habe das Messe-/Expogelände umrundet/durchquert und das Karee Karlsruher Straße/Am Mittelfelde/Hildesheimer Straße/Münchener Straße.

Mein GPS-Trace war schön akkurat auf kartographierten Wegen, mein Kompliment an die fleissigen Mapper dort!

Mir ist eine kleine Lücke aufgefallen: die beiden Straßen Margeritenweg und Birkenstraße sind noch nicht kartografiert worden. Ich hätte das gerne "schnell" erledigt, hatte jedoch keine Zeit, da ich meinen Zug nach Hause nicht verpassen wollte.

A long time ago I walked the streets near my house with a colour printout from OSM and wrote down the road names. After various adventures with Gnash, Potlatch, Qt and so on I have installed version 0.11 of Merkaartor on my Fedora box. It has many rough edges, but works better and is easier to use than the other clients I tried.

I've uploaded my changes (street names plus one missing lane) and I hope to see them appear in the map soon. I'm wondering now how I can use my Blackberry handheld with OSM - it has some kind of GPS and a keyboard for typing in street names. Any suggestions?

I just completed a test with outdoor-gps. It's on the wiki-page: osm.wiki/index.php/Making_Tracks_with_Homebrew-ware#Free_of_Charge

It performs beautifully with a VGA PDA (HP 4700HX), but what's even nicer: In the wiki it sais to replace "rtept" with "wpt" in gpx file, but that's no longer necessary! So if anyone is in the habit of updating the osm wiki-pages then by all means, change it!

Viele Leute markieren die Friedhöfe nur mit "landuse=cemetery" und belassen es dabei.

Das reicht aber nicht.

Ein Friedhof soll (muss) zusätzlich auch mit "religion=..." markiert werden. Warum? Weil christliche Friedhöfe anders dargestellt werden müssen als z.B. jüdische Friedhöfe.

Osmarender stellt unbekannte Friedhöfe (die kein "religion" Tag haben) als grüne Flächen mit grauen Grabsteinen dar. Das ist ziemlich allgemein gehalten. Erst wenn der Friedhof auch mit "religion=christian" markiert ist, wird er als grüne Fläche mit Kreuzen gerendert. Muslimische und jüdische Friedhöfe dürfen natürlich keine Kreuze haben, daher werden sie anders dargestellt.

Also "religion=..." Marker nicht vergessen.

D'abord en train Karlsruhe-Paris-Rennes-Brest, puis en vélo jusqu'au point extrême ouest de France (Pointe de Corsen à côté de Ruscumunoc) et puis passé par la Bretagne (Quimper, Auray, Vannes) jusqu'à la Loire (Pont du St-Nazaire), quelques morceaux de la piste cyclable "Loire à Vélo" passant par Nantes jusqu'à Saumur et Tours, puis quelques châteaux de la Loire et du Cher (Chambord, Chenonceau, Ussé, Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau, etc.) et puis des petites départementales en évitant des villes en direction du point extrême est de France (bord du Rhin à côté de Lauterbourg).
Malheureusement après 10 jours et 1400km la pluie forte et longue m'a forcé de prendre le train à Vitry-le-François et de passer par Bar-le-Duc, Nancy et Strasbourg de revenir à Karlsruhe. Néanmoins, j'ai pu noté plein de gares par où on est passé.
J'ai essayé de marquer toutes les départementales, par lesquelles je suis passé ainsi que les carrefours où j'avais changé de route et les frontières des villes/villages et des départements (souvent changement de la numérotation des routes). Mon Garmin Etrex Legend HCx n'ayant que 1000 Waypoints, je n'ai pas pu faire beaucoup plus. J'y ai mis encore quelques supermarchés et campings, ainsi que des choses touristiques intéressantes.
Merci à tout le monde, qui y a déjà contribué. C'était parfois une grande aide de pouvoir voir les routes déjà marquées ainsi que de pouvoir se motiver par la distance et la direction aux villes/villages.

heute hab ich mal ein paar Fehler aus Openstreetbug (http://openstreetbugs.appspot.com) korrigiert (unter anderem ein "Brückentohuwabuhu") und noch einige Häuser in die Karte eingezeichnet. Auch den Aufruf an alle: Wenn ihr nichts mehr zum mappen habt, mappt Häuser. Die gibt es doch sicherlich noch ;-)

Übrigens: Meine Änderungen beziehen sich auf Delmenhorst...

SM Marikina Mall opened last week, I just cycled around with my kids, and its
now added to OSM (building outline, service roads, ramps and footbridge). As far as I know we are the only webmap with this
data as of this time.

Currently uploading a couple of roads from 1:250K out-of-copyright maps
in Guimaras, Panay and Negros Island with following tags. I hope local
mappers in Visayas would improve it.

More will come later.

We did a small walk around Ingliston Gorge, very pleasant walk but only 4km long. Perfect if walking with a pregnant lady.

Managed to mark the trail and get some of the missing roads to get there. Love the fact that someone will eventually pull out there gps there and find that someone has already marked the walking track.

Prefer the Weribee Gorge walk which is just north of this walk. There you can go for in a swim in the Weribee river during the walk.

Hi all, i just wanted to let you all know that i updated the GPS Map for Canada, and it shows almost all the major cities, along with the Unofficial Trans Canada Trail, and also the unofficial Across Canada Trail (hiking trail).

I found a way to download all the latest map data, so im now just working on collecting all the data, so i can make the full Canada mapset. Should be good.
Feedback is always good (I get like 20 downloads a day) but very little feedback, so i dont know exactly what people are expecting when using the map. ... for now, i just guess.

Across Canada Trails

Hallo allerseits,

ich bin seit September 2008 dabei. Mein Heimatort Hoogstede liegt in Niedersachsen im Landkreis Grafschaft Bentheim.

Added cities, roads, many canals, found a few mountain names too. Learning Uzbek and Russian to do this!

Add three new strets: R. Mirindiba, R. Urupema, R. Cuatiara

Geändert: Namenlose Straße in Neue Kohlsdorfer Straße

Saw a reasonably interesting story on Collectors tonight on ABC about the historical maps collection at the State Library of Queensland, where many years ago I did a brief bit of work experience (had forgotten about it too!).

Worth sharing with the unwashed world, since it's viewable on the intertubes if you don't mind state-endorsed proprietary media formats. I tell a harsh lie: you can download an MP4 if you look hard enough. Bravo, Aunty, good show.
