//English// Hello, at some buildings are some of the corners black Points. What is it and why?

You can see it here very good: // Hier kann man das sehr gut sehen:

Wife is learning to drive, so now i take my rig out with us when we are moving. It helps to also show here a trace of where she has been. So now collecting even more traces of the local area and some of the test routes used by the examiners.
Now I really should find the time to put them up and edit them. Need to figure out how to put photos with some of the data as well. I was reading that someone else from LUG RADIO Live 2008 has been bitten and is going to put POST Boxes into the data... What a brilliant idea, i will try to do this and also add some of the phone boxes that still exist.
Since my vehicle runs on LPG i shall have to make an effort to include places that dispense this, as my gps traffic guide does not always have the most up to date information and when you are running on the last gasps of LPG you dont want to have to use Petrol. Following directions to something that has since closed is never enjoyable.

I've just done my first bit of editing ever! Yay! Heard of OSM a year or two ago, but being at LugRadioLive '08 UK t'other weekend and then hearing someone from OSM chat about it on the Ubuntu-UK podcast, I was inspired. In particular by their mention of postvoxes. They never appear on any other maps, and I have done some part-time work for Post Office Ltd in a past life, so I'm taking it on myself to map all the ones I can find.

Firstly, between home (Balham/Tooting area, SW London) and work (the City, EC) on my daily cycle commute but I may go a little further afield/try to map others I remember from previous places I've lived at. May go some interesting routes/take minor detours to catch some others if I get bored on the regular path.

Well, up to now my mapping has been pretty well all by myself. Saturday though I joined a couple of others at York for an afternoon mapping. I might have missed a couple of details, but I think I, about, completed the block surrounded by Bishopthorpe Rd, Scarcroft Rd, Nunnery Lane and Tadcaster Rd. A return trip will be in order to map the flats within St Benedict Rd.

It was good to see how others do things, not seen the synchronise images with a gpx trace. Very useful.

Shame the servers have been down, I still have a couple of traces to upload from today.

Spending a great weekend in Tipperary, we covered quite a few roads. I've now completed the R668 (Cahir to Lismore), which towards it's southern end is a mixture of great scenery at The Vee, and some truly awful roads — narrow, very twisty, bumpy, and overshadowed with trees. My GPS traces in places drift apart (we were on it three times!), so more traces would be good. It's worth seeing, anyway!

I also managed to complete the related R669, and identified an existing road on the map as the R670. Conversely, I found a trace in the database with no way that turns out to be the R665 from Clogheen to Mitchelstown, so that's nearly complete too. Some other fragments in Cashel, including an off-ramp from the N8 made for a reasonably productive mapping weekend.

Does anyone know what the N24 through Cahir is now classed as (it appears the N24 has moved to a bypass, although I never saw it personally)? I'm guessing R527, but it's still signposted as the N24. For the hundreds of millions of euro they spend, the NRA never seem to have a budget for re-signing the old roads...

These are pretty stunning: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7539529.stm

That said, it would also be awesome to see a rendering of the movements of OSM mappers (as derived from uploaded GPS traces) plotted on a world map :-) I wonder how many people you'd see active at once - surely the activity much be fairly constant these days!

Danke

Wo ist Nürnberg? Was ist Fürth?
