Okay I see what you are talking about. In those cases, the existing data on OSM was significantly off from what was visible in the Strava Heatmap. I started fixing those trails from one end, but only got so far in one sitting and didn't finish, which is why there are those 2 jumps. In both cases, I started fixing from the south. I don't think there is a way to upload a screenshot here. But I can add fixing the remainder of those trails to my To Do list.
What do you mean by "discontinuities"? I used the Strava Heatmap overlay extension to fix the route of some of the trails. I'm looking at it right now, and don't see any discontinuities in any of the segments?

I like cdl02930's idea. So the key steps that we have left is to get the remainder of the buildings drawn, and then doing something similar to what was done in Hudson Highlands.
Here is an example of how we could use a Relation to group all of the building ruins as being part of the former McAndrews Estate. What are everyone's thoughts?
Or we could just label each individual ruins (Pump House, Fountain...etc) with it being tagged as part of the former McAndrews Estate. But right now it looks like there is agreement amongst the majority on it being some variation of 'Oscawana [???]'.
Well the parking area is on the west side of the road. The kiosk on east side of road (which currently is empty) was an Eagle Scout project, and when considering the context it is clear it was intended to highlight the history of the site. In Wharton State Forest there is Atsion Village and Batsto Village, and there are probably signs that say Welcome to Batsto Village but it would be wrong to label the entire forest as Batsto Village, when those are only that specific area/buildings. It is the same case here.
Not really. The parking area has a sign that refers to it as 'Oscawana Island County Park'. The same parking area is used for the trails on both the east and west sides of the road. It is all one park, so it isn't necessary for there to be a sign at every trailhead. Various sources consistently say the McAndrews Estate is part of Oscawana County Park, not that the park section was officially renamed to McAndrews Estate. The old kiosk appears to use “McAndrews Estate” as a historic/site descriptor for the ruins area. This decision should be based on community consensus so lets wait and see what other people think before going with what the majority decides.
I disagree with this change, McAndrews Estate refers to only the historic ruins found within the park. And there is signage at parking that refers to it as 'Oscawana Island Nature Preserve'.

Thanks! Komoot seems to be doing the trick. One question, is there any limit to the number of routes that I can have saved (there are close to 400 that I need to get a gps file for). How often does Komoot update their base map? There were some OSM changes that I made, and and it still shows the old tracks, so I'm guessing probably a few days? This is helpful since should there be any reroutes or anything it will be easy to revise the tracks and download an updated file. With Kamoot I noticed that it does limit me to one region (I chose Westchester County), but $9 for the Hudson Valley and $9 for Skylands, and $9 for Gateway aren't bad And for the tracks, is there a way to adjust level of detail? When I zoom in I noticed that it does points at lets say 100 foot increments. Is there a way to get it to follow the OSM track exactly? This is just something minor.
Okay, I'll play around with Komoot some more. Maybe you know an easier way. A local author has written several hundred hike descriptions, I'm trying to help him get a gps file for each hike. So what I'm doing is following the hike on a map, and creating a temporary route, then going to Waymarked Trails and downloading the gps file of the hike, before deleting the temporary route.
Hi I know what OSM is used for, this was only temporary. I looked at Komoot and it only allows you to set start and end destination, there is no way to select the individual segments. I am planning on deleting this "temporary" route soon.
This is for internal purposes. I needed the route for something.
For the 'Roller Haven', there are trail closed signs at the northern end, and it looks like the park does not want people to use that trail, and is trying to restore that section of forest
The chance of it being re-added is very unlikely. The habitat/environment was restored.
So for Hilltop why don't you correct your mistake and do what you suggested?
Well for Hilltop the boundary is not complete. Since the road cuts through the park, I only had a chance to add the eastern half. I still had the western part and then had to tie them in with a multipolygon relation. And you were quick to change it to "your way" before the complete boundary was even added.
Onatru Park and Preserve is one park, that is the official name of the place. There is just the road that cuts through the park. The name should be corrected and the place has sports fields so that makes it a park
Hilltop Hanover is definitely not a "nature reserve". The boundary that I added was incomplete, and I never got around to adding the western part of the park, which compromises the majority of the park. It is a farm/museum, and similar to Muscoot Farm Park.
For Onatru, the official name is 'Onatru Farm Park and Preserve'. The park is cut in half by the road, but they are both part of the same park, so the names should be consistent.
