Changeset When Comment

Hi krautjohk,
there's been an influx of non-local mappers doing imagery-based mapping in Hamburg.

Unfortunately, your mapping is not up to standard.
In this changeset, the way you extended bike paths and sidewalks is utterly incorrect.

Please stop your mapping activity in Hamburg.
I don't know if you are part of this organized mapping event: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/meta-mapping-complex-intersections-and-sidewalks/145645
But we've had a lot of these error-prone edits recently and a significant part of them will need to reverted because they are incorrect.

Hi joxajof,
there's been an influx of non-local mappers doing imagery-based mapping in Hamburg.

Unfortunately, your mapping is not up to standard.
In this changeset, you added a building even though it is explicitly tagged as being demolished: way/61747941
In other changesets, you add sidewalks which are already recorded in the OSM data, claiming that they're "missing": changeset/186713990

Please stop your mapping activity in Hamburg.

I have reverted your changeset since it is wrong in every regard. It's like you're trying to just break things.

Please read the message I left you under this changeset: changeset/186660207

186660207

I have reverted this changeset because:
- the geometric updates are incorrect
- the crossing tags on standard driveways are undesirable, especially if crossing:continuous is missing (but even with it, still usually considered undesirable)
- you removed information from node/4618978096 for no apparent reason

At this point, I have one request for you:
Please stop your armchair mapping activity in Hamburg (and surrounding areas) entirely. You can find problems with the armchair mapping approach on this wiki page: osm.wiki/Armchair_mapping#Disadvantages_and_controversy

If you keep on introducing mistakes, I will consider reporting that to the DWG.

186661109

Please go and read what the tag crossing:continuous means crossing:continuous=*

Adding a separate way here way/1546089427 is incorrect because the sidewalk continues uninterrupted.

Btw I'm not being impolite because I want to be impolite, but rather because this #walkaboutgermany project just introduces SO many issues and there are so many changesets to review.

186666307

I have a question for you: what's the point of mapping a sidewalk separately if the quality of the geometry is this bad? way/1546109051

186444729

Look, the problem with this is that it is straight up wrong. I reverted your changeset. If you and your team continue to make these sometimes erroneous edits, I will consider reporting you to the DWG. Not everything can be judged accurately from aerial imagery.

Please read this section in the wiki to see why remote armchair mapping (what you're doing) can be so damaging: osm.wiki/Armchair_mapping#Disadvantages_and_controversy

Hi again,
one mistake from this changeset is that you disconnected these two streets from one another: way/3977786 and way/185395356
After your changeset, they were only connected via a footway, which is not routable for general vehicle traffic.
I fixed that.

Hi,
I reverted this changeset in changeset/186580234 for two reasons:
- Adding highway=crossing to normal driveways is undesirable.
- The change to this crosswalk node/317773314 is wrong. It is controlled by signals.

186449109

Where did you get the surface value of way/1545049103 from? Guesswork like that is very much not appreciated in OSM. Please stop this practice. The correct surface in this case is obviously paving_stones.

186458581

I reverted this changeset in changeset/186490830. This was a low-effort edit which did not make sense. All you did was duplicate a node representing a crosswalk.

Hello MayDayPiolet,

Please pay more attention to detail in your changesets.
- The geometry of the sidewalk doesn't really match reality.
- Painted bike lanes are tagged on the road and not on a separate line.
- This bike lane is one-way.
- You forgot to remove the bike track tags from the roadway after mapping the bike track separately.
- While it is good that you added this crossing here node/14053533223, it is not actually marked in any way. There are only some markings in the carriageway area, which don't count.

Why am I pointing these things out? Well, it's pretty simple: The sidewalk and bike lane infrastructure were already tagged correctly before you made your edit here, and you kinda broke some things now. I have repaired them, though.

Regards,
kadiwa

B. sidewalk:both:surface=paving_stones.
