the default behavior for barrier=gate does not seem specified, so the safe bet is to not rely on any particular behavior.

If a footway happens to be wide enough for vehicles to travel on, this would normally be encoded with width= or osm.wiki/Tag:maxwidth:physical=, which is to say that the highway= type is *not* chosen based on physical properties, but what the way legally is.
In the absence of signs and signposts, that may pose to be a little more challenging than otherwise. As there are sidewalk kerbs on both sides, as well as a rather inconveniently placed lightpole, this little alley, to me, has all the characteristics of being foot-oriented. Just because it happens to be accidentally physically wide enough to be driven on by emergency vehicles does not mean it deserves to get a higher classification. Router software with an emergency vehicle profile is supposed to, in contrast to normal road vehicles, evaluate not just roads but also other kinds of paths and test whether they are wide enough.

You are too fixated on the perspective of driving. For normal everyday use (osm.wiki/Duck_tagging ), this way is unusable by motor vehicles, hence marked as a footway. For a footway though, the obstacle is not a gate. It might be for motorized vehicles, but they are excluded from the outset.

About 20% of them call it a bollard, even those models that are anchored to the ground with two posts and which look almost like a bicycle_parking=stands .

There is a number next to the LED signal. This is a common occurrence in other cities too (e.g. Prague). In some cities, the number is also engraved on the metal switch mechanism in the track, but I do not remember if this was the case in Bratislava.

Because the youtube videos were 6 years old and it's hard to read from the video (motion blur, exposure, etc.) I used a 72-hour ticket and traveled most of the lines in person.

Die BAB verläuft auf einem Damm (der sicher nicht von Natur aus erstellt wurde), damit ist auch der “Tunnel” per Cut-and-Cover entstanden (Ausbaggern, dann mit Beton auffüllen).
