Thanks Libarch. None of the old out-of-copyright maps are of much use with regard to Tanyard Lane / The Strand, unfortunately - they leave the road unlabelled. The current arrangement feels sensible for now lacking any usable evidence. The 1927-1929 OS map (long out of copyright) draws Robert's Hill at roughly the position you've now set with alt_name, so given that "Robert's Hill" could be considered forgotten, what you currently have is as good as we can achieve without a better usable data source, in my opinion.

(But if all properties now use "Rectory Lane", perhaps old_name is more appropriate, or perhaps it should be left as you've done -- I'm not sure. A shame to lose the historical name but I appreciate we do need to draw the line between OHM and OSM.)

Hello - I think the north end is likely called Robert's Hill, even though it's not signed as far as I can see on Bing Streetside. OS OpenData 2016 has it as Robert's Hill, and the address for Mill Cottage on Wikidata's outgoing links is also Robert's Hill: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q26565553

It might be appropriate to at least keep this name as an alt_name north of the Blackfriar's Barn monument?

Looking at OS OpenData, I also suspect Ferry Lane comes too far south as a name, and some of that should also be Robert's Hill. It's hard to be accurate though!

Sorry for large bounding box! Modified the beach area way/259433472 as part of the Goat Ledge mapping

Hello! You seem to have tagged the entire residential area around Mayfield with the name Coggins Mill: way/98765087

There's already a village node for Coggins Mill north-east of Mayfield: node/5112362135

Could this name tag have been in error?

That's already covered in the block message linked by Taya_S, @pitscheplatsch, including the exact link you've provided :)

Tagging @LAX_maps to avoid an accidental edit war.

N.B. arguably since Big Ben is the name of the bell specifically, this is not accurately tagged and comes close to tagging for the renderer, but this has been discussed heavily already and I don't wish to contravene that!

Sorry for large changeset BB. I did edit out the cairn addition from Go Map!! directly in the XML commit, but I guess it doesn't behave the way I expected to.

Thanks, and welcome to OpenStreetMap! FYI, the in-browser iD editor you're using lets you square corners of an area by either selecting the area and pressing 'Q', or right-clicking the area and selecting 'Square'. This will give nice right-angles.

I've tweaked yours, and also corrected house=terrace (a row of terraced houses as a single area) to house=terraced (a single terraced house).

Happy mapping.

Nice. Unfortunately, the overall alignment fixes for Battle are very tricky to do in isolation. 90% of it has been mapped against misaligned imagery, and it's all very closely tied together because of land use, hedges and fences, and paths.

Since you're using iD in-browser, the easiest thing is just to upload your changes from one area before moving onto the next, as you edit.

iD does let you export a change file (osm.wiki/OsmChange) but there's no native import function, unfortunately.

Re the current change, I don't believe so - just bear it in mind for the future! :)

Hello! Your changes look good to me at a glance, but just as a heads-up, your Reichenberg changes seems to have come bundled with an edit to paths on the Isle of May, which has made your bounding box quite large:
way/255795668

This can make it trickier for other mappers to monitor their geographic areas of interest because it creates noise: osm.wiki/Changeset#Geographical_size_of_changesets

Thanks!

Hello. I've reverted this as you've marked a road as one-way that is definitely two-way. Drivers from London Road can turn right onto Bohemia Road.

You also appear to have changed the geometry of the intersection so it doesn't reflect the centre line of the road.

Nice! Obviously we can't use Google Maps as a data source (osm.wiki/Don%27t_copy_from_other_maps) but if you've got first-hand knowledge that construction is complete, I'll update the landuse of the area.

182128888

(And to follow up, if you've surveyed -- is this still an active construction area?)

Hello - good work. Does this changeset effectively resolve map note note/5273809 ?

181572491

Hey! Re the outline, the existing shape didn't seem to match the LiDAR footprint, so I made a best guess, but I hadn't found any useful guiding material like the document you've got.

And yus, I thought linking to the category might be more useful for the map users, but happy either way - sorry to create work for you!

Hello! It's really helpful to provide a changeset comment so other mappers know the general content/intent of your changes: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments

It's also a courtesy to other mappers if you keep the geographical size of your change reasonably small and focused: osm.wiki/Changeset#Geographical_size_of_changesets

Thank you.

I didn't get a chance to check the road numbering yesterday, but your speed limit changes are exactly correct - it goes down into a 30mph east of the roundabout and when joining from the A21, I guess because of the garage and businesses. I'll try to check the road numbering next time I'm there.

As this has been added as a node in subsequent changeset changeset/180420624, I've now removed the business name from addr:housename=* on the building area, and added address tags to that node: changeset/180443291
