I agree with opening post. It should not in any case be reported as russian. not even dualy. Another way is to keep it ukrainian but with special administrative border that implies control - not ownership- of another state.

We should not in any way support the arguments of an aggressor in a war. The war is raging stil, with more people dying now than before in this war.

A map is a very important tool in ascerting ownership in the minds of people. Just look at the russian propagande reaching for maps from centuries ago.

Reading from the provided link, that de fact that russia saying that they are annexing crimea is ground from OSMF to report it as russian. It is legalizing that sham. It is not recognized internationally and more importantly not in any treaty.

I believe this to be a remarkable mistake by OSMF.
