I really do not understand why are you changing names of not your language in not your countries... Let Germans change the names of THEIR language as THEY want. And Polish document is totally irrelevant to German/Lithuanian stuff :-)

I totally agree with war criminal and Krolewiec, I ment name in OSM should be changed by Germans. Btw, Klaipėda is historical Lithuanian name (with lithuanian taxonomy of the name) for this place which has source predating Germans, so nothing about "war criminals". We need to check any official contemporary German document to verify what is the official name. But look, I'm not going to scream out loud for this :-D I just think we should leave changing this name to language speakers. I'm not going to change this name back to Klaipėda.

If German official would write the name, they would write Klaipeda. As a local I've heard Germans referring to this places as both Klaipėda and Memel. There is no other way than official papers, you will never find one variant of "what random people would say". Only official names work. And I think Germans should be changing this name :-) not people from non-related places. Plus you're changing administrative entities which have nothing in common with historical objects, borders, events etc.

But my suspicion stays the same, do you have local knowledge about these places and Vilnius in general? If you're local (ir tada galim šnekėti lietuviškai) - it is all fine, if not - I doubt you should be doing changes to such curated data, just browsing internet is not enough.

(I'm from Lithuania, I do not speak polish) You've shown some information about Klaipėda, but that is not official sources, official name is Klaipėda, it is what you will find in any official German documents referring this city. That is if you take any contemporary German document, Klaipėda would be refered as Klaipėda, not as old name "Memel". We call Kaliningrad as Karaliaučius, even in road signs it is named as "Karaliaučius", but that does not mean that we change name:lt to Karaliaučius, as official name is "Kaliningrad". Same with Klaipėda.

There have been a number of strange changes before that and I have doubts if you have local knowledge rather than "googling"? Yes, same point should be moved but because of previous changes after first change I've reverted the whole change as, well unreliable. Maproulete guided changes are a common source of problems in our data.

Can you share some official source that CURRENT OFFICIAL name of Klaipėda in Germany is Memel? As per my knowledge regardless of historical context official name is Klaipeda.
