Changeset When Comment

Hello EkowYaw, the footpaths you added cross other roads and intersect buildings. This is not ideal. I'm fixing these, but next time connect highways when they intersect and avoid connecting highways to buildings.

Sam

Hello E-mensah,
you mapped buildings that are already mapped and created duplicates of them. You also remapped Bank Road and Post Office Loop which already existed in another changeset.
To avoid this in the future, zoom in on the place you are mapping and make sure the data is fully loaded before adding anything.

Sam

It's alright.

The changeset comment cannot be changed. The changeset comment did not reflect the changes, which made it seem there was a mistake (which happens).

It's all good. Happy mapping!

Thanks for the clarification.

Your changeset comment does not match the changes made though.

Hello rk-, what you deleted was a shop and did not contain any phone number. Possibly you deleted the wrong object?

Hi Prince,
note that the name=* tag is used to add formal names of objects and not a description of any kind. Kindly review this edit and remove "maped you building" as the building name.

Welcome to OSM!

Sam

Hi Awinebotima, thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana. As a new mapper you should be aware that OSM uses multiple imagery sources and they all do not have the same alignment so the data may not align with some or any of them at a particular place.

With the help of GPS traces we are able to correct these and save these offsets in a database. osm.wiki/Imagery_Offset_Database#JOSM_Plugin

Kindly read a little about this and always check before you realign objects.

Your realignment was not properly done and unfortunately has to be reversed.

Hello, you mapped way/561145062 as Statoil but that brand does not exist in Ghana. Was it Star Oil you saw?

See this note for reference: note/4212797

Hi Ziggyentumi@20, welcome to OSM and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana.
Kindly note that names are only added to buildings when they are publicly known. I doubt h1, h2 are real names. You might have done this out of ignorance but don't use the name tag to add random names.

Sam

Hi Mateusz,
you are definitely correct. This should be place_of_worship. It's an edit from my early days and I guess OsmAnd didn't help with a good suggestion.

Fixing it right away.

Hello Vida, welcome to OSM.

I think what you are trying to add are street lights and should be mapped as:

highway=street_lamp

but not:

tourism=viewpoint

You shouldn't add name=Light pole to the poles because it's just descriptive text and not actual names of the poles. Tagging them as street_lamp is enough.

Sam

Hi Perey, welcome to OSM and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana.

You have added valuable changes but note that names are unique and are only added to objects that have publicly known names such Lawra Market, Konto Hotel, and Baptist Church nearby. Buildings may have names but not all buildings do and certainly, many buildings in an area cannot have the same name so review your changes and remove the names of the buildings.

You can say hello in the OSM Ghana community on Telegram https://t.me/osmghana

Are these communities as in a village/town? Community centres are mere gathering places in communities.

Hello Victor, welcome to OSM and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana. This is a valuable contribution.

Just one little issue, adding just 'Road' as the name of a road is not good practice. If we add just 'Road' to every single road then we wouldn't able to tell them apart. Only add the name if the road has a known name like Adeiso Road nearby. Review your edit when you map again.

Happy mapping!

Sam

Hello Nana Sarfo, welcome to OSM and thanks for contributing to the map in Ghana.

The changes you made here have quite a number of issues.
1. Pay attention to existing features before adding to them. You have created highway=primary in places where highway=residential already exist. Consult highway=* to learn how to map highways properly.

2. You have added names of people owning/living in buildings as building names. That is not the practice in OSM. Only add names to buildings when they are official names e.g Jubilee House, Aseda House.

3. You have a lot of values written in upper case e.g addr:district=KUMASI. KUMASI should be Kumasi, nevertheless Kumasi isn't a district. You should understand the tags you use before you use them.

The number of issues with this changeset are a lot and I've had to unfortunately revert it. changeset/147884698.

I'd like to invite you to the OSM community in Ghana on Telegram (https://t.me/osmghana) so you can ask questions and learn from the community.

Best regards,
Sam

Hello Benedicta, why did you add "Wine and liquor shop" as the description of this ATM node/5776851160? It seems out of place for me.

Hello _jay_21211, this changeset has been reverted by changeset/147607606.

OpenStreetMap is a public good and not your personal property. Refrain from deleting data to suit your wishes. You can download the data and do whatever you want with it but removing data added by other volunteers is strongly discouraged.

Hi Abdul thanks for taking time to contribute to this project.

I will advise that you read the instructions on Maproulette carefully because your current edits are adding more problems.

If you are to continue mapping please map the outline of the buildings neatly and orthogonalise the shape by pressing S. You should also replace the existing node with the new outline (refer to challenge instructions).

Happy mapping!

Sam

Based on the description you added I've tagged it as an advertising agency.

Hello Ekow, what kind of business does Interactive Digital do? You currently have only the name and some address details. It will need a physical tag (office, shop, or amenity) to make it a complete POI.
