Mapping day

Posted by Nrms on 29 May 2008 in English.

Well, first bit of real mapping done today. Updated my estate from the NPE-based map to one based on GPS tracks. Only took about 40 mins to walk the 2km or so of road. Probably spent almost as long moving things on the map! :)

Location: Bent House Farm, Sherburn Road Estate, Claypath, Old Durham, High Shincliffe, Durham, County Durham, North East, England, DH1 2RZ, United Kingdom

An entry to the world of GPS

Posted by Nrms on 27 May 2008 in English.

Well, the bluetooth GPS unit arrived on Saturday, bits of software have been installed on the mobile, and done some playing.
So far traced a car journey from Newcastle to Corbridge and then returned using Nav4All as a route planner. Also mapped a couple of walks from home, but noticed my estate seems to be badly mapped :-\ If this nice weather continues, I see a walk around of the estate to remap it.
Looking forward to the Durham mapping party on June 7/8th.
