Hello! I made my 1000th edit today which also just so happened to roughly coincide with the 1 year mark of my OSM journey. I have had so much fun learning about OSM and connecting with so many cool members of the community.

I started my work on OSM improving the data in my home town of Wilson Wyoming, which continues to be my main focus, although I have done some smaller projects outside of this area. It has been so rewarding to watch my work come together to create such a carefully detailed representation of its unique and beautiful geography. Through all this work I have not only deepened my passion for geographic data, I have had the pleasure of developing the understanding necessary to truly comprehend the marvel of the world’s greatest map, the open street map. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of such a remarkable feat of humanity and commendation to our planet.

Hello! I have finally finished my work in Teton Pines! Unfortunately, I learned recently that there is a big construction project(s) going on there at the moment. So, I will likely be circling back to update the area when new imagery comes in.

On another note, I have been experimenting with adding wooded areas (natural=wood) in the mountains directly west of Wilson. I am feeling some uncertainty about this effort so if anyone with experience in mapping forests wants to take a look at the work I have been doing, I am more than open to advice and suggestions!

Anyways, with this finished I am now moving on to the area I am calling South central Wilson, which I have outlined in red on the attached image below. I have gotten a bit of a head start by mapping a majority of the ponds in this area. My work here will include the following: Adding water features, improving roads, adding houses/structures, and driveways. I will provide another update once this work is completed.

Hello, I have completed work in the stilon area of Wilson. I have already moved on and made significant progress in improving Teton Pines, both the golf course and residential areas. I will provide another update once I complete work in this area!

Hello, I have completed work for the first part of the project. Central Wilson and the length of Fish Creek road have reached a point where roads, driveways, structures, and water features have been thoroughly digitized. Check it out and let me know what you think! :) I am sure there are some things I’ve overlooked and maybe some mistakes in these areas. However, given that they are seeing a fair amount of development, I will likely be returning to them soon to update and double check for possible mistakes. I do have a question for you all out there, more experienced than me. I have come to despise the existing residential-landuse areas in Wilson. They are a mess and seem to be quite outdated. I would be more than willing to fix or make new ones, but I don’t know if there is a specific way to go about that kind of thing. Do they need to be based on any administrative boundaries or are they a more arbitrary area? As for what’s next in the project, I am moving east to the Stilson area to fill in completely missing neighborhoods, improve roads, add water features, etc. I will give the next update once completed.
