Hi
Has the locked gate been removed? If not, could you add the appropriate access restriction tags please.

Hi

FYI These nodes are not platforms.

Hi
Are you sure the gauge is 1520?
That's wider than standard.

149986532

Thanks for spotting that & letting me know. I've undeleted it & it should get re-rendered soon.

Hi
To check, is this definitely one of the RNLI's charity shops as well as a lifeboat station?

Hi
Did you manage to check the location?

149527178

The last I checked, that box was welded shut. Did you physically observe it or was it from Mapillary?

149452719

Please don't create linear platforms when there are already polygon platforms.

149391787

That's interesting.
I don't suppose you took a photo of the amended sign?
Did it say who had given permission?
Did the paths at the Northern end have similar notices?
Could you amend the tag to this:
osm.wiki/Access_provisions_in_the_United_Kingdom#Permissive_bridleways

Ah, so just a local name.
As it's not in the OS OpenRoads database, could you amend the tag to this, please:

osm.wiki/Names#Local_names_(loc_name)

Hi
Where did you get the name of Longwood Lane from?

You need turnstile?

Are the validators not on the turnstiles?

These aren't stiles

There's already a railway station.

(My replies are asterisked)

The fact that the operator calls it a halt?

* The name is irrelevant to defining an object, it could be named 'Joe Bloggs'. Naming it 'halt' doesn't define what a halt is.

It's a common pattern on preserved railways to distinguish between "full service" stations catering to tourists (i.e. with a car park) and "only a halt" where the only expected customers are walkers.

* "With a car park". See? Yet another subjective, personal interpretation of the meaning of the word 'halt'. Classifying all railway stations as 'railway=station' & adding fact-based sub tags, such as 'usage=tourism' & 'request_stop=yes' etc. removes ambiguity, making the OSM database more accurate.

But frankly, the definition of a halt is beside the point.

* No it's not. The very basis of OSM is how objects are defined. The whole wiki is a list of definitions. That 'halt' is provably subjective sits badly within OSM.

My irritation is with overriding the work done by local mappers based on individual opinion.

* It was undertaken after discussion on Talk-Gb
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2020-January/024096.html
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2020-February/thread.html#24097

* Some concurred, some gave additional details, no one objected.

* Changing them from station to halt was performed unilaterally, overriding the work performed by contributors.

It doesn't sit well with a collaborative project.

* It was a collaboration.

* I note the Wikipedia pages describe them as 'railway stations'

From what I can gather (people don't reply to my enquiries), the data in the graphic was invented by a few German rail enthusiasts. I've struggled to find any information that it's a wide spread interpretation (even in Germany). In the GB discussions no one had any comprehension of it. It's ridiculous to determine the busyness/size of a station by "where trains can change from one track to another track."
There's so much wrong with that graphic:
Misunderstands what a siding is.
Almost all (all?) multi-track stations have crossovers nearby.
A nearby junction has no bearing whatsoever.

You'd have thought this page would mention it:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_railway_station_categories

@phodgkin What is the officially agreed demarcation line between a halt & a station? Name one that you perceive as a halt, but if the criteria you use to determine it increased slightly would make it a station? Likewise, name a station that would become a halt if your criteria reduced?

Hi
The Destructor Bridge is a truss & Windsor Br is definitely not a hump (beam).

Hi
I saw a Air Ambulance Charity sign over the old Lloyds Bank, but the shelves were empty. Do you know if it's about to open or is it losing?

Hi
node/10146740462#map=18/51.66540/-3.14223

There is already a railway=station node for this station.
