Hi, It's OK a lot of folk get confused with the layer tag including myself occasionally. Look at it only as a means to show what feature is above (or below) another. It must not be used as a means to show elevation.

Hi, surely the fences don't go through the buildings?

Hi, I've removed the tracks Way: 1459514803, Way: 1459569939, Way: 1459569941 and Way: 1459514802 as they duplicated existing highways. Such duplications could disrupt routing so could you please check for duplications before uploading. smaller changesets areas would make checking easier for you and other mappers.

Welcome to OpenStreetMap.
Please take a little time to learn how to properly use/add to the OSM database. Many guides are available.

Way: 1459227951 and Way: 1459227952 have been deleted as they duplicate existing highways causing disruption to routing.

Way: 604458213 has been reverted back to secondary highway, it's not a motorway.

Duplicated highway sections removed.

Hi, welcome to OpenStreetMap.

OSM usually only maps a feature once so I've removed the building, please see:- osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element

Hi, I've removed several highways you added because they duplicated existing highways and could disrupt routing.

Some improper names removed from fields.

Hi,
Welcome to OpenStreetMap.
First off I've reverted this changeset because it added a huge building.
Secondly the Childs Hill Library is already mapped here:- Way: Childs Hill Library (1159276061).

OK, best thing to do first is have a little read up of some of the helpful guides here:- osm.org/help

Is there something particular you want added to the OSM database. Yes OSM is a database not a map. Many different maps are compiled from the OSM datebase.

Then how can I help, you can message me or post a comment gere?
Regards Bernard.

Hi, Sorry for being late answering.
The layer tag is not meant to show what feature might be at a higher or lower elevation. It's purpose is merely to show the relationship between two crossing features, which is above or below. Thus, there is no need for the layer tag to attempt to show relevant elevation. A bridge over another highway is layer 1, the lower highway has no layer tag as layer=9 is implied in it's absence. Any tunnel feature would be a negative layer, thus a culvert under a road is layer -1, the road is implied to be layer=0.

Maybe the wiki page can give more insight than I can explain, it's here:- layer=*

Hi, Unfortunatly your 2 new highways, Way: 1458379586 and Way: 1458379585 duplicate existing highways. Such duplication can disrupt routing, thus I've removed them.

If a feature needs amending/correcting please make that amendment/correction to any existing feature.

Hi, Just a query, are the steps Way: 1458284189 meant to be connected to the road and building entrance with footpaths?

Regards Bernard.

Hi, Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

Looks like that building is several residences, so the tag is building=residential. When it is divided into the individual residences, then each one should be tagged building=house.

I've tweaked the tags.

Are there missing bridges at 54.4291356, -2.9263403 and Node: 2538444350

175816137

I just noticed there was no layer tag on the bridge Way: 1457860143

175816137

Hi, Your new highway Way: 1457860136 duplicates an existing highway; highway duplication could cause disruption to routing. Thus, I've removed it.

The bridge Way: 1457860143 was also placed on top of an existing highway. I've removed this duplication.

It's likely you could not notice the duplication as the changeset was quite large.

Regards Bernard,

Hi, Again you are duplicating highways which will disrupt routing. Way: 6 (1457648079) is a duplication of several existing highway, I've removed it.

You should have been alerted to the problem by the warnings given above.

Regards Bernard.

Hi, we are talking about layer tags here. layer tags are relative only to what feature they are above or below. They have no relation to the levels of a building. The service roads are only above a highway tagged as layer=-1, therefore, they must be layer=0. The layer=0 tag is not usually needed as it is implied in it's absence.

Regards Bernard.
