Today I've finally uploaded all POI's which I have for Belarus. So in last few days I've uploaded approximately 8000 POI's of Belarus.

I have a detailed plan of my native city Vitebsk,Belarus on my laptop, and seems that this city is a biggest gap on OSM map from the TOP 10 region centers of Belarus. I've found that OSM current map is a bit different from mine (+-20meters),but anyway such occurrence is okay for GPS navigation. So I will proceed and start from buildings, water regions, parks and scrubs and after that will think about the streets. So the problem is that most street's I will need to delete and upload from scratch.

Spent 10 days on hols in south Alberta, and probably to slight annoyance of my relatives at times, made lots of notes and POI's; all main roads I could see were done already before - traced, I guess, but there's pretty much no POI's in the smaller towns and I guess some range roads missing so I tried to capture a few while driving past in the car and get more detailed info on areas I did much walking on - partly to help identify where I took some of my artistic pics of course too.

Filled up my logger (a Holux M-241) more than I've ever done before, a good 30000 points or so in total I suspect although a large range of frequencies, from 1Hz to 0.1Hz or less on some of the major roads. Well, when you're driving a straight line for miles and miles and there's little to no traffic to worry about, and the road is already on osm, why bother with any more frequent points?

I suspect it'll take me a while to coordinate all the hundreds of pics and traces and get it all in though (like, a few weeks probably). I'll submit the gpx's once they're cleaned a bit and less private.

Hello everyone,

Thank you to all those who responded to my question about the gender bias within OSM.

This week I would like to know whether you feel this apparent gender bias within the OSM community matters or not? Should it be a cause for concern?

Please comment here, email me via the site or at caroline.hangartner@student.manchester.ac.uk

Attending first mapping party this coming weekend and will post again next week.

Thanks

Caroline

Turns out my instincts regarding Louis-Colin street were thoroughly incorrect.

On the other end, it also turns out my instinct regarding the invasiveness of street numbers is increasingly confirmed the more I add. Côte-des-Neige Street is looking worse off almost every time I add anything. Combining addresses with amenities (e.g. here, here or here) in particular generates a grotesque overlap that causes the amenity icon to almost disappear.
