I needed to find a better opportunity to get a GPS device (or whatever they call it), through GPStogo.
I also found an opportunity to map more areas of San Pablo City, through the upcoming Milo Marathon, (to be held on Sunday, August 24, 2008 to be specific about it).
The problem is that time and money are the enemy. And I am competing in the 5K competition, due to my young age.
I think that THIS is a good opportunity to expand the reach of OSM to the City of Seven Lakes. I have added some streetnames and improved the coverage in the poblacion (downtown) area and in areas near my home. Also, have you seen a "kinda big" improvement in Bicol (Connecting the Maharlika Highway from Lopez, Quezon to possibly Libmanan, Camarines Sur via Tagkawayan, Quezon)? I did that. And there are too much FIXME tags almost all over Laguna.
GPStogo could be very promising for a person like me. Since it gives a big opportunity to every OSM contributor in the developing countries, including the Philippines.
But since I can't wait, maybe I need a basic GPS device that can help in my contribs.
Since I don't have much time, I have to end this.
It's called odysseus road, but it's marked as a highway belonging to a lot of segments. I don't have anything against an extra layer showing how to get to the highway, but I also don't know how to do it in josm to make an extra layer yet, and to unite it with the next segment close by.
I have been working (technically and conceptually) for some time to implement a local website for the OpenStreetMap project. The rest of the local contributors seam to be very interested in the idea of a local site (in our language) that helps to make the project well known and understood among the rest of the community.
The initial idea is to put in place an front page wish is a full page map, with a header containing some buttons to get to a Blog and OpenStreetMap.org, and a footer explaining the (cc) License that covers the map data, and giving credit to all the parts involved.
Most of the front page work is done, but I just can not figure out how to lower the navigation tools and the button to access the layer selection. I am not a javascript expert so I guessed the people that work with the OpenStreetMap.org Openlayer interface could help me with this.
I almost send this post without the URL for the site :)
Thank you very much for your comments and help.
Cheers,
Julio Costa
My original goal was to add bike trails ... but there's enough repositioning left in San Jose to keep me working for a couple weeks of evenings... I performed some categorization, and added a major road were I used to live that somehow went missing (Agnew Road...)
Made a start on the cross country ski trails at Dinner Plain Victoria, Australia.
First tracking ever. Mapped a bit of my hometown.
I posted more tracks most of it was along the highway 3... you can see spots where i turned off and such.
Hopefully i remember it all when i get down to drawing lines for it :)
Tracked and mapped the entire "Lammerberg" and some other stuff around in Tailfingen today. Took me 1:30 by bike to travel thos 23km :)
I have put in two of the four major trunk roads (Northern Highway and Western Highway)
Also named Belmopan and Belize City
Just finished the Orchard neighbourhood of Burlington. Only a couple of streets missing plus paths; however, the map of this area is the most-up-to-date and complete map of this neighbourhood on the Internet besides official City of Burlington maps (see transit maps), it is even more complete than the Google, Yahoo, and MSN (Live) sets. I hope to add in a majority of the paths that go through the neighbourhood soon too before I'm away from home. Also, I'd like to add in as many parks as possible in the 4 northern neighbourhoods: Millcroft, Headon, Tyandaga, and the Orchard.
Millcroft is complete as is Headon Forest neighbourhoods and I'm still working on Tyandaga. I'm doing a bit of the Thomas Alton neighbourhood too with the GPS to try and get some of that completed.
I'll also be cleaning up the streets I've drawn soon to make the corners a bit smoother.
Complete:
-Streets of Headon, Millcroft, Orchard.
To Do:
-Finish Tyandaga;
-Orchard paths.
Working On:
-Alton neighbourhood;
-Parks + other trinkets you'd find at the side of the road;
-Giving regional roads for all of Halton proper reference numbers.

Went out by car today to try to fill in the major roads connecting the towns and villages in the Colchester and Tendring area. Made lots of connections, but found that there are still plenty more to do.
Idag har jag åkt till Njurunda och tillbaka. Det var roligt. Jag mappade hela vägenb!!! Dessutom hittade jag en massa oskyddade WLAN!!!!!1!
I added a few ways for "Musumsdorf Kiekeberg" (Ehestorf/Germany). The museum has numbered places. Because I did not know a common tag for tagging these numbers I added points with "amenity:sign" and "name" according to number.
I visited Rwanda for two weeks. I carried a GPS tracker around and collected some data.
It's all up on OSM, Mapnik even has rendered some of it.
We're going to canning town tonight. Quite a lot of people have signed up for this, so should be a good one. Anyone else fancy coming along?
We don't know the name of the pub we're going to yet, which is all very mysterious (just know where it is). I imagine it will be a pleasant place by the docks. But then again they'll be a planes landing over head.
Hopefully I'll have to time to pop over to the riverfront and take a look at the Thames barrier. Never seen it close up.
After a forced "mapping holiday" I have finally had a chance to map data I've collected for scattered residential streets in Toowoomba. A serious fault at our electrical meter, and the sluggish pace of my 7 year old computer after an OS upgrade have conspired to make mapping very difficult for the past few weeks.
I've been trying some new GPS tracking software - OSMtracker. It looks promising feature-wise, but somehow the tracks seem less accurate than I was getting with GPSVP.
For my first map, I drove around where I grew up and mapped it.
I was mapping my home town of Morehead City, NC.
