Been a while since I bothered to diarise, but I just got back from a holiday in Pembrokeshire and have been able to fill in a lot more detail for The Havens area and a few other places.

While I was there I went on a few mountain bike rides, trying to stick to bridleways as marked on the OS maps (via tracklogs software) as much as possible. Mostly this was OK but there were several ways on the OS map that simply did not exist any more on the ground.

Before the hols I also went along to the Acton mapping party, named a few streets, met a few other mappers and had a few beers. Good to see you all folks!

The summer has been so busy with lots of OSM and other stuff that there has been precious little time for solid mapping sessions. Anyway, yesterday I managed to get out for a 50km ride and knocked off another block of Birmingham. Most of Handsworth is now complete at last. Great to be out early on a Sunday morning watching the world wake up and go by.

I completed the missing residential streets in my hometown. I went on my bicycle, and I didn't track the long climbing streets, for example "Chemin de la Molleyre", or "Les Palaz" (in front of "La Pala", descending to the forest.
I forgot "Pré du Château" and the footpath between it and "Au Village".
I'll do it next time.

Then, I went to Ferpicloz, using "Route de Ferpicloz". I mapped it and the streets connecting Ferpicloz to Le Mouret, and I was asking myself some questions at this point.

- Should I indicate "Parking" when cars can easily stop for a moment in front of a school, or in front of a shop?
- How many points and which proprieties do I need when there are a "surface" parking and an "underground" parking?
- How to set the "boundaries" of a village?
- In Le Mouret, they've built a new road, connecting the tertiary one with the secundary one with a roundabout inbetween. They put a barrier (this kind of thing : | | | | | |) only on the side of the old junction so that's the situation :
You can go both ways by bicycle and foot, cars may go from the tertiary road until they reach the secondary road, making it "noexit=yes" but only for cars.
How should I indicate it?
- In Marly, I've found a footway that goes under the road, in order to cross it.
I draw steps before, a long footway with "layer=-1", and steps after.
Is it the right solution or should I use "tunnels" or sthg like that?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

mfG,

Sebastian

Spotted a new bike shop and added it, also added another one that wasn't there (and isn't far away - is cycling getting really popular now?)... Cyclopolis in Balham, London; its not open yet so I checked up on the 'construction' tag/value. Its construction=yes, as a general-purpose one!

This was all due to my trip to play badminton this afternon near Battersea, and I walked back home! Well the journey up on the bus (bike out of action at the mo) was horribly slow up Trinity Road - really tempted to find a way of marking that as a horribly congested route most days and especially horribly at rush hour (serious estimate of average speed in bus down that section = 3-4mph, pedestrians were passing us and we never caught them up).

The bus back would have been much quicker ('cos that side of the road is mostly emptier) but I felt like exploring a bit and doing some osm-ing. Didn't plan it, didn't have a clue how good the data is (suspected all road names done though) so just made redundant video notes of the 'extras' (ie mentioning things multiple times and in ref to other things I was sure would be done). Post-boxes (my thing), tel boxes, some of the shops
