I'm on holiday in my hometown, Düdingen, and have continued mapping there. I reckon it's now 90% complete. I'm also busy giving Fribourg, the next bigger city, a bit of love. This one is nearing 40% completion or so.

Furthermore, I converted motorway number 12 into a relation, in the belief of doing something good, cleaning things up. After today's Mapnik-Update, I can't see the label "12" anymore - did I do something wrong? It's relation 29'356, with the following tags:

route: road
type: route
ref: A12

Also, this motorway is, on a national level, A12, but on a european level, E27. Can I save both those references using the same relation?

Hi everyone interested,

approximately 2 or 3 weeks ago I ordered a Wintec WBT-201 GPS mouse at ebay.de - and have been waiting and waiting for delivery. But yesterday I finally got it! Woohoo :-)

I decided to ride by bicycle and make a test track of my place of birth. I rode from Winsen via Roydorf to Luhdorf, tracking as much streets as possible, then returning via Roydorf to Winsen. After two hours I returned at home, being curious how good the data would be.

I am sold on the accuracy of this tiny little thing. It logged all the way quite exactly. Every manually ordered trackpoint was stored. And the software delivered with the mouse is imho very powerful. It can convert the log into various formats and it is quite easy to use. But sadly it is just running on Microsoft OS. On MS Vista it is suggested to disable UAC, but it even installed fine without doing that. It is just important to start the TMX software as Administrator, or it won't be able to find the serial port where the gps mouse is connected to.

Then I tried "GPS Babel" on Ubuntu 8.04.1 64bit, and it ran fine. The I tried to combine it with "GTK G-Rays 2", but that did not run smooth. I could see the different settings of the mouse, but I was not able to download the log data. (GTK G-Rays 2 seems to use gpsbabel to retrieve the data, but when I initiated the download, a status panel opened indicating the download, but it did not download anything. An "strace" to the process showed that the process could not establish a data connection to the mouse).

To sum up the above:
I am very happy with my new (and first) gps mouse. It is easy to use, it seems to be pretty accurate and the TMX software makes a very good job. I am just a little bit sad that I cannot use it with linux in a convenient way.
