I was again hiking yesterday, taking the red pathway, the lightbrown and yellow pathway. A nice trip, especially the yellow path is nice and ends at a small but very nice waterfall. Drinking the water from the small river Ljósá is refreshing...

In meiner alten Heimat sieht es ziemlich mau aus. Bin jetzt dabei, Beetzendorf weiter zu vervollständigen. Anschleißend ist die Umgebung dran.

today I think I will buy a nice folding bike with 7 gears. I got a good offer and will check it the afternoon. Then I will put it in the trunk of my car. And then I can do some serious mapping wherever I go :-)

Yesterday I collected the rest of the streets in Walluf/Rhine. Haven't had the time to enter the data yet...

I've done some logging with my new Datalogger.
It's a mainnav MG 950D for use with Bicycles and it has a very good accuracy (maybe its because I'm not so fast...)

Mobile GMaps is great software - I like the web-tracking feature using gmap-track.com and I like, that it can use OSM maps.. but I have several problems:

- My friend cannot use it on Nokia 63xx anymore. It just stopped working and when he triest to start it, it hangs.
- Web tracking is just uploading my last position.. but i cannot download track data from that website.. so it`s still kinda useless.
- I cannot see Mobile tracking to work.. cause I dont know how to export tracks
- I still miss some more advanced geocaching service with it. Like when it can search on wap.geocache.org for tracks near or near specific "favourite" location (i am using them ar markers for geocache points)

Maybe I should post this one on MGMaps forums also :)

Last weekend I was making map of next sector in my hometown. I set resolution to 2meters and after 1hour (15km) I wanted to export data to gpx.. but it failed. TrailExplorer (for mobile phone) just says "saving" and nothing happens. Good thing i checked the "save track" box this time, so i could export to at least kml..

Yeah and then come in the difficulties with OSM or maybe the kml file. I converted it to gpx using gpsbabel, i filtered out tracks, later on i saw that markers (with km and speed) are still there, so i carefully opened file with text aditor and removed wapoing tags (from to ). File was pretty ok (if we dont count some random line in the beginning (but that could be when gps just started and made some initial glitch)..

I uploaded it to OSM and could even edit.. but yesterday`s evening it was gone.. I uploaded it one more time but this morning it is gone again.. so I uploaded it one more time..

what could be the problem? :(

nachdem es so aussieht als würde hier im Kreis jeder für sich allein mappen entstand die Idee eine Usergroup zu gründen um die Möglichkeit zu haben, Informationen auszutauschen oder sogar mal Treffen oder Mapping Partys zu organisieren.

User Schack war so freundlich die entsprechende Wikiseite anzulegen und hat auch bereits ein paar Leute angeschrieben, aber vlt. fühlt sich ja auch hier noch jemand angesprochen und würde sich gern beteiligen.

OSM already had a few ways. I added some more by tracing Yahoo arial photos. Most of my efforts were around Panajachel, Antigua Guatemala, and La Ciudad de Guatemala.

dummerweise habe ich wohl die B432 östlich von Klein Rönnau vermurkst. Eigentlich wollte ich bloß eine Kreuzung bearbeiten, habe dann aber wohl statt des Anschlußknotens die ganze B432 verschoben. (Und es nicht gemerkt, da es wohl außerhalb meines Bildschirmausschnitts passierte.)

Wie kriege ich das wieder hin? Ich habe im Online-Editor die "History"-Funktion ausprobiert und auch einen "Revert" angefordert, aber da ich noch nicht verstehe, wie das funktioniert, habe ich auch die B432 nicht wieder hinbekommen.

The street center line data maintained by Clark County GIS is public. Clark County is now a data conversion project.

I wonder if someone is maintaining precompiled mappacks derived from OSM tiles server.

I know www.millions.ca/~stacy/osmtiles.tgz, but i wonder if there are truly precompiled mappacks i just need to untar on my openmoko freerunner.
It would be awesome to download, for example an "Europe" mappack that holds entire Europe.

If not, it would be a nice idea, to create a project around exactly that. Maybe it is possible to cupple that with opengeodb to automagically know which and where are big cities that need more detailed maps. This data maybe could be feed into osmtiles so it generates the mappack.
Several mappacks may be combined since we just need to untar files. Since the detail levels are maintained in different files, low-res tiles will not overwrite high-res ones - mappacks will automatically enhance each other.

Would that be a good idea? I just cant believe i am the first guy who has this. Something has already to be out there!

Demain je retourne dans l'Aveyron : Villefranche de Rouergue. Je passe par l'Ardèche et la Lozère. La route est déjà pratiquement toute faite. Je passerai juste par quelques raccourcis à cartographier et faire quelques tours à Villefranche.

Habe heute einen alten Track von einer schönen Draisinenstecke hochgeladen, bin mir daher nicht mehr so sicher, was eine Brücke, was ein Tunnel und was ein Überweg war - das meiste waren Überwege...
Auch fehlen die Straßen zur Anfahrt und dem Schluß - dachte damals, die gäbe es schon :-(
