Roads lead us to destinations, and maps, as our guides to a journey. Wherever our feet may take us– to the known or the unknown, we could always find our way and discover more of where we are or where we might be with a good map on our hands. I am Josef Ree Diamond Cusi, a first-timer in verifying and modifying streets, roads and area details but a solid user of online maps. And so here I am, finally, discovering more options to choose from instead of a built-in app that limits my capability on verifying whether the road will literally take me to where I ought to be. With OpenStreet Map, I was opened to the wide range of information a map could offer. From the most visible details like a city landmark or roads to the simplest information in an area such as a fire hydrant, a bench or a mere garbage bin, OpenStreet Map offers such information. More to that, the public is capable of verifying whether such areas, landmarks or roads exists so the validity of datas are proven. The opportunity of learning OSM #Mapatime Sessions gives us an edge on contributing to the needs of map users. So far, the most fun activity in this session is school mapping. Hoping that OSM will continue these activities in far future.

I am luis c. lozano, 19yrs old taking up accountancy in the Polythecnic university of the Philippines San Juan campus. I like studying, going to the library and chilling in the church so i can pray, i always get intrigued in the field of computers because i don’t often use them because im more of a book guy, being able to have the opportunity to witness, learn and do mapping for the first time is a great opportunity to be able to understand and give something to the community in the form of mapping, my favorite part of the program was mapping schools because it helps in determining hard to see schools in the province and for me its a great help to the community that we are mapping. if i were to volunteer in the next time of the mapping i would because it will give me a great background about computers which is a different approach in the field of computer because its normally just games and socially media. if i were to improve something it would be the speed of the wifi because it greatly affect the work time because sometimes the internet speed is slow therefore slowing down the workforce of the class in mapping the schools and buildings. i would like to share to the osm community that they are doing a great and spectacular job in contributing to the society and because of their help people can now see the schools which are not located and are hard to determine in the maps.

Hi there! I am teenager girl . I love exploring about something. I want to know more about things that i didn’t know. In the four session in the MapaTime CWTS I learned a lot, just like doing a map and aligning them in the right position and also creating some road and buildings. My favorite part is the first meeting of the session. Where we teach some guidelines of what to do. In this session there’s a lot to improve just like skills in doing the map and such.

I really enjoyed a lot the session, and i’m looking forward for more activities. Thank you for the knowledge you share!

HI! I’m Wenny Roi G. Balite, 19 year-old student in PUP San Juan campus currently taking Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. In the four session of mapping, we learned different things. We learned how to fix roads, add buildings, aligning roads right and etc. The experience was really great. I had fun while learning. The four week was really productive we were able to help to recognize roads and add some buildings and more. Hopefully, to have more experience about this. Looking forward as volunteer.

Natutunan ko ti agkita nga nalaing kadagiti masapol ken makasayaat iti Open Street Map kasta met para kanyak nga masapol ko nga kitaen nga nalaing ti ububraek ta kasta kuma maidalan ko toy bagik iti kasyaatan na. Ti mesa nga namayatan nak nga inubra mi ket naamwak nu kasano kaimportante ti path lalo nu uray ada basit nga dalan nga makita.

Being in the session of CWTS #MapaTime is very productive since we really used all the time to do the activities given to us.We learned so much starting from the purpose of this session down to the basics like, how does Open Street Map operate and what are the uses of the tools present in the particular activities; point, line, area and even the different views of seeing the area we are working on.

My favourite activities are the editing itself since it is the essence of the session and knowing that I had contributed on this activity gives me privileged to be one of the 1st batch in PUPSJ come from different department. If I were given a chance to participate/ volunteer again in this program I’ll whole-heartedly accept it. It is my opportunity to share the knowledge I have acquired in from this session. Maybe the Internet connection is the only thing that needs improvement.

All in all, this #MapaTime session not only taught us lessons in the subject itself but it also taught us how to value the those people we are working on.

In this 4 Mapa time sessions we were first taught the basics of mappings which is the line, point and area which are used to create roads and buildings. We were taught to validate roads and buildings in their correction. It was a fun experience even though we only had 4 sessions my favorite activity was the last sessions which is adding and fixing schools. The things to improve are the internet connections and more computer so that everyone could experience it.

CWTS #MapaTime sessions had been productive. Primarily, we were taught about the basics of mapping. Without those things, we wouldn’t be able to perform several tasks during the succeeding sessions. Firstly, having an educator whose expertise is really in this field contributed a lot in our learning. Second, the place is conducive for our learning as well. Third, the entire class is active when it comes to the tasks that’s why communication was easy. Moreover, this field was new for me. However, as time went by, I actually loved the process and it was actually amusing to locate different buildings, areas, schools, etc. I also had fun fixing roads, most especially that it’s new for me. Since we no longer have another session, we are highly encouraged to become volunteers in the future. If I were asked if would i volunteer, I’m quite sure I want. But, since I am anticipating for a more hectic schedule, it would be a hindrance for me to actually be part of the volunteers. As an Accountancy student, I never expected myself to easily decipher the technical terms since my course is not in line in this field. Nonetheless, increased level of curiosity helped me in pushing myself to do more and at the extent of my limits. To sum up everything else, the entire four sessions imparted great amount of knowledge with regards to this field which is new for me.

The four sessions with CWTS #MapaTime is so productive. It was a great time to experience this kind of task or work. I have learned a lot in this MapaTime sessions. I’ve learned that there is much more to see in the open street map than the google map or waze. And also OpenStreetmap is more helpul and detailed than other maps.In this sessions we are able to experience to add road in siquijor province and to validate others tasks. My favorite activity is to determine pedestrian lanes for the people to know that there is crosswalk in a certain location.

I would love to be a volunteer in the future sessions because I want to learn more about mapping and to share my knowledge to other people. Also I want to help the community. I think if there is something to be improve, that is the internet connection. Because it is hard to finish task if there’s a problem in connection.

I am a BSA student from Polytechnic University of the Philippines San Juan Campus.I want to thank our instructor for this activity because I see how passionate he is in sharing his knowledge about mapping to us, also to those student-volunteer who have patience in teaching and answering our inquiries.

Honestly, I hate technology because I find it hard and really confusing. However, during this 4 weeks activity I realized the importance of learning and gaining knowledge about technology specially in using computer. In this activity I learn how to map and it’s significance for our subject which is Civil Welfare Service Training. Some activities are quiet confusing but still it’s interesting. I consider this experience as one of the best for me because for sure I won’t forget it till I grow old.

I am willing to volunteer because I also want to share my knowledge to other students and I want to learn more about mapping.

This session is a very relevant to make us more productive as a student, for as accountancy student we should not just focus our knowledge on theories and numbers but also for the practical learning that can be used in a modern technology. I learned a lot like locating the roads and naming those buildings. Most importantly, the adding of schools in the Philippines which leads me to add the school where I graduated from. My most favourite activity is the adding of school, it is more exciting and there were a lot to be done in this activity. I would like to volunteer in the future session for me to be able to broaden my knowledge and hone my skills in technology.

Actually, I don’t know what to improve because totally it is amazing and I learned from it very well. I would like you to know that I am very thankful to be part of this activity for it opened my eyes on how technology really works and how it is important in the modern days.

For the past four weeks i have attended the CWTS #MapaTime sessions and i really enjoyed it. I may not be a IT major but I surely learned and enjoyed tis experience. at first I may have questioned why i’m here and how is this related to my subject but as the sessions go on I was really happy of what we are doing. Although our biggest enemy was the poor internet connection that kind of hinder and slowed us down with the process but despite the struggle we have accomplished and successfully finished the tasks. Even though our sessions starts at 7:30 AM and its a struggle to wake up that early I still come here and do the tasks because its really fun and enjoyable. I’m thankful to our #mapatime instructor and CWTS professor for introducing to us the mapping. We are very much happy that we have helped in identifying roads and buildings and schools even though we are not that good but still helped people find their way to their destination.

The four sessions we had in CWTS taught us a lot of things, especially in mapping.

I’ve learned that, there are so much more learnings which really helped us. One of these are, we were tasked to find roads and fix it according to process. Moreover, we were able to validate other people’s tasks if what they did was accurate. At first, i really had no idea and i am not fond doing this kind of thing. My favorite activity is putting a road in possible places in Siquijor Province, i had a great time doing that because, i had to critic every part of the map.

I would love to be a volunteer someday or in the future sessions because i would like to share all the knowledge and skills that I had learned. If there is something to be improve, is the internet connection (joke), to be frank, we were having a hard time and having a lack of time since the connection was lost.

I would like to know more about mapping; by determinning other factors like finding easily the areas which is compliment to the map.

Above anything else, the four sessions has molded us and open up our minds with this kind of thing.

Thank you for this program i gain knowledge on how to use a mapillary, mapatime, and openstreetmap. Natutunan ko rin kung pano mag identify ng mga school, road and so on. Also my favorite activity is Openstreetmap and Mapillary. I don’t think if i volunteer in future sessions because there’s a lot to do on other subject and also the schedule but i try my best to attend in this program again. I suggest na pagtuunan ng pansin yung mga bagong batch yun lng po thank you again for this program and also i enjoy this program.

This session is very productive for us as an Accountancy students even though we are not an IT students because this help us to be more aware of our surroundings and be more knowledgeable about the map how we should properly use it since map today are more advance. I would like to thank our professor in this sessions and to the KUYAS who help us when we find mapping difficult sometimes. I’ve learned that there are a lot of infrastructures and road that are unidentified. For the improvement of the session, I wish we had more computers working and a faster wifi.

Honestly, I enjoyed the four sessions we had and I find it really interesting especially the game “Mapillary”. And lastly, I would love to learned about more mapping a more advance of it and to be part of one of the volunteer since some of the volunteers tells us what is good about to be a part of it. In this session i learned a lot of things i enjoy to learned and listen about this session. Ang kinaganda pa dito ay hindi lang sa nakikinig kami sa discussion but also we learned and we doing what he though to us and also if didn’t know someone will guide us. I learned to map a building and to determine what road.

I have learned in this few past sessions is the importance of mapping its not just mapping the buildings or roads i was able to see the plains of different places and it was fun. It was a fun ride and even i’m not going to be graded for this subject I can say that it was all worth and I would love to volunteer in the future sessions to enhance my communication skills and learn more. I would like to see more and to gain more. And my fav act for this is the searching of elem schools because i know how important it is to know where the directions are when there is a storm or natural hazards in the area. I know this just a short diary but hope you felt my gratitude once you read this. Once again Thank you for the knowledge you have given me and I wish to volunteer next time.

It was a fun learning experience. This session was a good opportunity to learn a wide variety of skills. In the four sessions we’ve had, I had learned to edit points, lines, and areas properly to produce information beneficial not only to us but also especially to organizations that need this information. I’ve learned to identify walking lanes, traffic lights, and a lot of other objects just by using images alone.

The activity that I enjoyed the most was mapping and validating information at Siquijor. At first I was doing the wrong thing because I was validating the map instead of mapping it. Eventually I figured it out what I was doing wrong and managed to catch up.

If I would complain about anything during this sessions then it would be about how horrible the wifi is during sometimes. Everything else was fun like how Sir Erwin taught and presented his intro about google is something that should be less relied on by people because it lacks a lot of information about the map and a lot more. I’m also thankful to the other people who also helped me during this session like Kuya Ron who would constantly answer our questions.

PUPSJCWTS #MapaTime #BSA1-1 opens another door for us to experience such one of the kind activity that was really new and helpful for everyone. Mapping is not just an activity where you can locate a certain places on its specific location on the globe but you can also see those buildings that are available on that certain area such as the houses, schools, playgrounds etc. On this activity one of my favourite to do is to identify those roads, buildings areas etc. present on a certain location because it involves critical thinking and enhance your understanding so that you can locate a right and specific buildings, areas, roads etc. mapping can be one of the basis or a guide if there is a certain phenomenon occur on your place it will help you vacate easily onto a safer place because it is more specific and makes you aware which way you can also use to go there.
