Hi, Ma2_r0. I'm curious what your thinking was behind some of these highway tagging edits? You seem to have upgraded some sections of primary highways to trunk, which I'm not sure I agree with. Thanks!

| 129761651 | Thanks arichnad, no idea how that happened, but they're all deleted now:

Hi patpend3008, thanks for contributing to OSM. Please be careful when moving intersection nodes. It looks like you accidentally moved the intersection of Crestwood and Davis about a block and a half south, which prompted the various "crossing way" and "building crossing" warnings that probably came up in the iD editor. I've moved it back in changeset/131861236, but please be careful in the future. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for contributing to OSM. It's better to place points of interest where they actually are, rather than moving them so that they display on osm.org. Different renderers have different capabilities in terms of overlapping labels, so it's best to just put things as close to where they exist than to move them around to get them to render.

| 131098896 | Thank you, no problem!

Hi, this road should be called Blenheim Boulevard, not Old Lee Highway, which was its old name. See the news release here: https://www.fairfaxva.gov/Home/Components/News/News/12200/18. I don't know if the road signs have changed yet, but the name change went into effect on 1 January.

I've removed the tags on the building and expanded the tags on the node, since I'm not sure the Libertarian party is the only occupant of this building. You only need the office information on one object, not several.
I know what this is, in fact I've been here, but I also don't really care enough to keep arguing if you want to remove the highway tag. I do think it merits a highway tag of some sort (I'm indifferent about track or path or anything else) because it's a constructed route along which people and vehicles move, and sure a seasonal=winter and car=no or whatever additional access restrictions make sense to clarify some of the peculiarities. I think you're "overthinking the renderer", but as I said, I don't feel as strongly as maybe you do.
I don't think it's necessarily tagging for the renderer to tag someone that exists, even if only for part of the year. How about if we add seasonal=winter?
This is imported data that I manually reviewed, yes.
| 129920028 | Hi spendres, Is there a reason you added ref=noref to node/63869383?
I don't think that's a standard tag. |
I will look into it, I had presumed the data was public domain but it's possible I was wrong.
Yeah thanks for flagging, I guess the JOSM validator doesn't catch overlapping leisure ways like it does landuse and natural ones. I'll clean this up, and sorry for the trouble.
Hi, I'm happy to revert any ways you think are now misplaced. However, given the only ways I see that are now a little off are in this one residential complex, I don't think it makes much sense to revert everything.
I understand changing the way to a crossing, that was my mistake, I guess I'm confused of the need to change the crossing tag from "traffic_signals" to "marked." I get that traffic_signals is potentially redundant because of the node in the middle, but marked also seems redundant to me, and potentially misleading, in part because I don't think I've ever come across a signaled pedestrian crossing that is unmarked. Food for thought. Thanks for correcting though.
Oops, thanks for catching!
Hi Joseph, is there a reason you downgraded all the crossings to 'marked'? They are all controlled by pedestrian signals in sync with the traffic light at the intersection.
Hi Isaac, welcome to OSM and thanks for editing in Arlington! On OSM, we usually only give names to houses if they are historic (like Mount Vernon, Dumbarton House, etc) or are otherwise well-known. I've also aligned house #2614 to its location as I can see it in imagery. Of course, please check that I got it right. Thanks!
Hey BHM, thanks for catching, and shame on me for not seeing this. It looks like I accidentally orthogonalized the trail. I've reverted the trail shape, which you can see here: way/801839380
I don't think I had touched that house when you commented....although I have fixed it since. Thanks.
