Hello, it looks to me like you are testing for the next MSF beginner mapping event. Imo, it's extremely difficult to decide what kind of land use predominates in rural areas like here. It is also impossible to make clear distinctions between the different types if there is always a mixture of residential, farming and fallow land. I also believe that such big grey blobs on the map do only have a very distracting look and have no real use. I would prefer to map only the buildings and add place nodes if known. Please check this area here as a bad example of HOT land use mapping.

hi,
a node with only a name tag will not appear on the map.
please check this wiki page for a more detailed tagging.
office=*
You may also want to check the position of node/8174176267#map=19/-20.14935/28.58727 According to the website the node should be placed around here: way/878692206

Hello,
please change the background layer to Maxar. It's much more recent

@Nielkrokodil isn't this function about discussion? But OK, let's stop this here

70028946

Another good example of how either the highway tag Africa guidelines or the way they are applied must be wrong.

@Nielkrokodil in my opinion you are quite wrong. Take a close look - most of the ways have long disappeared on the current maxar pictures. I can only see one way with a certain connection function. From here: node/4676497871 to here: node/4676772806
The rest would have to be mucked out urgently. Elininate malaria was 2017, but today not even half of that is true!

While redrawing waterways you have damaged a lot of boundary relations here. Please be more careful

This are not unclassified roads. Not even with this standards:

only one example here:

A new imported road, not existing anymore. There is are buildings now. Please compare Bing and Maxar to the older Mapbox layer. Imo there is a massive import going on in Tanzania, but there is no plan present for maintaining the data. Google or Here can simply replace their map when a new imagery or a more sophisticated AI is available. But what will you do?

90466535

Still better then nothing. I think that a new import won't fix the problem. There are not many perfect aligned boundaries in OSM. You cannot demand to delete them all.

Is there any concept to keep this data up to date in the future? My fear is that this will not work in Tanzania.

replaced by you with this

way/851224273/history

There are more such cases.
What now?

I have started to merge the district borders with existing features like rivers and streams. The existing province borders are much less detailed. Even the country borders are sometimes very rough drawn. I would suggest to work on the districts first. Then to rebuild the provinces. After that we can decide what to do with the existing country borders.

@all
Borders following rivers and streams can be quite variable, especially in the lowlands towards the sea. Can we assume that this is still state-of-the-art?
Please note the islands in the delta of the Rio Púnguè and the course of the Rio Púnguè. How should we handle this?

I think the main obstacle is the licence. I will not tell anybody because there is a desperate need for administrative boundary data in Africa :). But it would be ideal if the data can be released under the odbl licence.
