Changeset When Comment
106993097

hey, thanks for your edits, just wanted to let you know that I made changeset # 108208627 that fixes the turn direction in a roundabout, we drive on the right here in the USA and roundabouts turn counterclockwise. No big deal, just something to keep in mind!

Hi, thanks for your contribution, but I wonder, I don't see this water in imagery. Did you have some proprietary source that backs up this fact?

disaster averted - reverted in changeset/108016997

yes indeed...also waterway/highway collisions need to be addressed too.. West Creek itself has shifted too.

Yeah I got tricked by old imagery before, but now at least I try to see if things exist anymore. How often are incorrect buildings added here?

I figured that since there was a larger building was built on top of the old one it was sufficient to delete the small one, and people would generally assume things get bigger as time progress (build back bigger!) Perhaps there needs to be a client side warning in iD that Esri Clarity is oldest for pretty much every situation.

Anyway I only edited this region as I may go up there this weekend and noticed a lot of discrepancies. And then I remembered the flood and did research to find the current configuration.

Alas still undecided whether I'll go due to gas prices...

Is there a need to retain buildings that were destroyed in the flood, and then rebuilt with a completely new one? Perhaps at best the history should be kept with the new building but it seems best to let go of the past and just leave it in the logs?

Hi,
Just wondering about Mail Creek Ditch - I suppose it's being used as a water hazard and thus your interest in editing it in Southridge Golf Course, but rivers were meant to be natural waterways. Mail Creek Ditch (as opposed to Mail Creek) was historically dug out by people to irrigate farmland.

I suppose the "stream" test is "jump across" (and natural) but I would say Mail Creek Ditch should remain a ditch or at most a canal (since Larimer County Canal was named as such despite it also being an irrigation ditch). What is your opinion?

Sorry, I should have checked more carefully, Thanks, carry on.

I guess I'll also put a comment here, perhaps the building should be marked building=collapsed as I don't think anyone deliberately wanted to demolish the building. Hope they find all survivors soon, clock is ticking :(

IMHO: probably should have kept the original shape and tagged it as building=collapsed as the debris is still there and not "gone"/deleted?

Anyone else care to comment?

At the moment the project is for the mkgmap project, targeting the Garmin NĂ¼vi. Though I can stick in 32GB cards, the map can only be a maximum of 4GB due to the limitation of FAT32. I've been trying to make the tool strip out as much as possible to get the continental US to fit in 4GB while not reducing functionality, it's been really tough to get it to fit as more and more data is added. I figure more than just these units can benefit, but this is the specific unit I use.

Honestly I felt it's a waste of memory. Having islanded turn circles like this uses 20X+ the amount of memory. Alas it does look a bit better and the road is marked exactly as it is.

But why I deleted it in the first place: my main reason for getting involved with OSM was this data was to be used for embedded devices where every byte counts, and well I felt that the value of this drawn out was not high as it's basically at the end of a cul-de-sac. Software post processing this into a single point is very complicated and fraught of bugs, where a source edit is much simpler, cleaner, and bugfree. Alas probably better just stay with whatever style others prefer.

The junction=roundabout tag had to go of course, it would be misleading to be called as such here.

put the circle road back in changeset/106926040

I couldn't figure out a good way to satisfy the definition of a roundabout (number of roads meeting intersection, circular way having right of way, etc. ) but perhaps should have left just changed it to an untyped junction?

Ugh... wish I knew. Plus the fact they need to be changed back when they do renumber.

I was wondering about the zoning of the new Ent credit union as well as some of the new residential neighborhoods ... and lo and behold! They were actually Loveland after all... So I just edited the 287 corridor north loveland boundaries as best that makes sense including apparently now totally surrounding the mobile home parks up there.

TBH I'm just eyeballing and getting the vertexes within a few feet or so versus using exact coordinates if I can even find them. The old boundaries didn't even seem close so I think my edits were at least closer but if exact long/lat coordinates are needed let me know and I'll lay off of editing any more.

oh shoot, this might have been slightly premature...

Thanks for adding your business.
I think the main issue is that you probably want to tag this as a "corporate office" so it shows up as a business. Other issue is that any type of opinions, like what is written in the description, is out of the scope of a map, and should not be entered there - your URL that's there will link to your advertising.

Did you move from Midpoint Dr?

I know it says Presbyterian church, but the sign in street view says Baptist so I wrote Baptist.
