From this position, it is no longer possible to continue south on foot via Via delle Fornaci. The road is too narrow with speeding cars and there is also a sign prohibiting pedestrians. If you want to walk up the Gianicolo hill, you should go downhill through the park 450m to the north. There are gates there, but they seem to be open permanently.
