I dont think the name Broughton Hill applies to the wood, rather it's either the steep stretch of road under the hanging wood or a locality close to the road at the top of the scarp. I've looked through old OOC OSGB maps and named woodland on large scale maps always have the name centred and contained within the wood. This is not true of the "Broughton Wood" label: most obviously on the 25 inch map.
