First background for the most part I live in Canada and armchair map from imagery. I used to do a lot of HOT validation but found looking at a small part of the map and doing multiple checks to see if it had been mapped correctly took a lot more time than just grabbing a larger chunk of the map then running the duplicate building script and putting it through JOSM validation and doing a few other checks. I’m lazy so that’s what I do these days. I have osteoarthritis in my fingers so don’t map everyday. I correct things on the map but don’t normally add things such as building:roof:shape=pitched, which was added by Stefano Verugi some seven years ago. In this instance though I corrected it to roof:shape=pitched. I think in this case it needs boots on the ground to resolve but if you’re thinking of one of your mechanical edits I’m happy with whatever you think. Cheerio John

You seem to have mapped a building twice?
By whom? Traditionally it is better to tag untag ways rather than delete them. <crtl>h in JOSM will give you the history of the asset. I note you have deleted a untagged path as well.
| 166519313 | added tag
You've deleted an untagged way that appears to be a stream?
buildinglevel=-1 removed as per previous comment

Probably because you have a fair number of edits to your name and I've just gone through and sorted out 290 highway=road in Algeria some of which were lasted edited by you. If you're using JOSM then it should have picked them up on uploading. I agree with you Algeria has some of the worst mapping I've seen. I've given up on duplicate buildings, but I'm cleaning up some of the rest. I've move on to a different area now and I've no idea what the levels should be, I suspect none? Cheerio John

Again a long time ago but building:levels=-1?
Along time ago but building:levels=-5?
I can see the wall but no building.
Try using JOSM and the buildings toolplugin currently you're adding a node outside the building occasionally

These days I spend a fair bit of time going over the map. Adding tags to untagged buildings, zapping duplicate buildings etc. Changing residential to service isn't the worst thing I've seen, my favourite was an apple mapper who retagged lots of highway unclassified to track contrary to the African highway wiki. There are lots of places that don't yet have the settlements or highways mapped and here we have a highway that has been retagged ten times? If you think about data consumers and I know we don't usually think about them mapping consistently to something like the African Highway wiki makes life easier for them. End of conversation. John
Some of these roads have connections at both ends they are through highways. A short asphalt paved highway connecting a major highway to a warehouse even in Africa can be tagged highway=service. highway=service doesn't say anything about the width or surface there are separate tags for those.
African highways has path available. I wasn't aware there is a separate HOT standard for OpenStreetMap that is different to the OpenStreetMap standard. In this case service is tagged that it has no connecting function but the mapper has converted residential to service even though these highways do connect to other highways.
Trouble is JOSM validation picks it up as a warning. Hopefully they'll document it in OSM features so the warning goes away. My personal view is 9,000 of them many that look very similar to a normal village is suspicious. Still the locals know best. You're missing winterlude in Ottawa, it's a barmy minus 26 this morning, well minus 31 with windchill. Cheerio John
The comment is for a number of highway=residential you changed them to highway=service even though they had a connecting function which is contrary to the wiki. Changing to highway=path would be fine. I don't understand the word compromise here.
You appear to have changed building=yes to building=tomb. building=tomb does not appear in OSM features. why did you change it and who came up with the tag? thanks John
Pierre Béland did a lot of work on tags for highways in Africa. Please read the section on residential and service tags. What you've changed will probably stay the same for fifteen years and the problem comes with routing software. Can a nurse use these to cycle to give out vaccinations etc? service has no connecting function so the software may decide not to use it. Did you changeset comment the highways and did the other mappers agree with your logic before making the changes? highway=path or residential works, one difference is do the buildings have a metal roof? If they do then the consensus is in order to get it there it must be a residential rather than a path. John
You seem to have changed a number of highway residential to service. Some of which are long and are lined with houses. connect to other highways? Any special reason?
You seem to be mapping over a group of buildings as a single building. Not only that but you seem to be mapping buildings twice some mapped by other mappers and some by yourself. Please be more careful. John
