In addition, what is the source for the spelling change?

I’ve reverted this edit as in hindsight there was little justification for it. I felt that some areas were over-classified as a village when they had very low population.

Update: I have reversed this change as it appears there is construction at this location - https://www.millerhomes.co.uk/new-homes/scotland/evergreen-manor-kilmaurs.aspx

I could not see any construction going on on the satellite and have been here in the last year or so and nothing was happening - I assumed the area may have been marked as construction wrongly - is this incorrect?
