Keep in mind the default access permissions that each kind of way allows. The 'highway=path' tag allows foot, horse and bicycle only, so if a trail does not allow one of those three, THEN you call it out with a tag. Anything other than those 3 is not allowed, so no need to tag it as such.

That's called overtagging, or "Tag Bloat". Ways tagged as 'path' by default allow foot traffic and don't allow motor vehicle traffic. It's like you adding 'motor_vehicle=yes' to an arterial road - it's not needed and an overuse of these kind of tags slows down the database.
Mapbox is actually starting to alert on tags like these as "Irrelevant Highway Tag", so those tags will probably just be removed again by someone else after you put them back.
Hope that helps explain - happy mapping!

Thx Andy - Sorry for the delay in responding. I was trying to answer back via OSMCha and it wasn't cooperating.
I was actually searching for changes from both Bogotov and Yocomik in OSMCha and found some other junk. Fixed some of it.
Cape Canaveral->Cape Kennedy was fun. *grimace*
I haven't used Overpass in a while - I'll have to dig back into it again to see if there's anything else that needs fixing.

I think I just figured it out. Not CANL, it's "Can I".

I see you're still mapping - since this change is from 6 years ago I understand if your memory is blank on this... but you named a hiking/biking trail "Canl" (way/209973143). Any idea what the name was meant to be? Thanks in advance...

Ne tenez pas compte de mon commentaire - je vois que vous êtes local sur le terrain. Peut-être que depuis que vous êtes là-bas, vous pourrez résoudre de nombreux problèmes de dénomination des villages dans les régions de Beni / Butembo?

I don't think this is Mangodomu - where did you get this placename data?
When you list a source, "knowledge" says nothing - you need to actually list a source!

Hi there - please don't use 'highway=trunk' - that should only be used for the SINGLE most important highway in an area!

102862994

I have already deleted them - no need to.

Hello - Please stop creating fake routes and objects. Your mapping assistance is greatly appreciated in Mali, but what you're doing is considered map vandalism, and is NOT helpful at all. Thanks

@Narayana Sadasivam You cannot just insert fantasy points-of-interest (POI's) into tasks you are working. These are REAL Places! M'Pegoumba does not have a bus stop, or playground, or an open market. Your changes will need to be reverted, not only on this project, but on all projects you are inserting non-existent POI's into.
Please stop doing this - this is NOT helpful!

It's dependent on the country, actually.
For Canada, large municipalities use admin=6, lower-tier/rural municipalities use admin=8.
boundary=administrative#10_admin_level_values_for_specific_countries
But regardless, BOTH levels are for incorporated municipalities, the act of incorporation is what generates a border, and that's the case for all admin boundaries. Admin boundaries are LEGAL political and/or administrative boundaries - you can't just make up a boundary that you feel defines a place and label it boundary=administrative if there's no such boundary in existence!
Okay, I've said my piece. I'll leave it at that. I just wanted you to know all this before someone from the Working Group finds out what you're doing.
If you're marking any more boundaries based on administrative data from an authoritative source, you need to cite that source going forward!

93138727

Greetings - Why did you mark the industrial zone here as an administrative boundary? Milne Inlet is not an incorporated town, and so does not actually have such a boundary.
The same goes for Mary River at the mine mouth.
Are you doing this to replace landuse areas marked as villages and towns? Less tolerant mappers would probably revert this, fyi.

Was this an import? You plopped down 2000 untagged nodes in this changeset - following highways that you had edited, and then 2 thousand more untagged nodes on top of those in changeset/91233339.
A JOSM hiccup maybe? I'm deleting some and trying to reuse most of them - but still a lot there!

No motorways here!
Pas d'autoroutes ici!

Hey Daniel - Just so you know, you want to tag highway construction as
highway=construction
construction=<highway class>
What you've mapped won't render as U/C for most data consumers! :)
Really happy you know how to map arterials! Too many in HOT don't! Cheers...

Looks like we were editing the same area...
