"Exchange" is likely not the name of the shop (I will check this next time I walk in this area) but simply the words shown to denote what type of shop it is it. Its legally registered name is probably there on the sign (or on a paper over the door) in smaller text.

The problem is that tools like StreetComplete, which prompt mappers to fill in the exact name of shops, rely on the name= tag being empty. If you put a generic name like "Minimarket" or "Exchange", you end up hiding that POI from mappers using StreetComplete, and therefore the shop’s real name may never be filled in.

> Also there are different tag for different languages.

Yes, there are. But writing e.g. name:en=Exchange or name:en=Minimarket would have been just as inappropriate here.

64368929

The same is true of "Exchange" for a money-exchange place. Just leave the name blank unless you know the exact name.

64368929

Please do not add generic names like "Minimarket" to convenience stores. This information is already communicated by the shop=convenience tag. Only add a name if it is the exact name of that one shop.

This edit added denomination=orthodox to a large number of churches that are not Orthodox, e.g. they are Greek Catholic, or Reformed, or Lutheran, or Unitarian. Orthodoxy is not the only religion in Romania!

Could you please go back and fix your mistakes? If you generate a list of churches involved in this edit, then you can easily detect some of the churches where your edit is wrong, because they are now tagged with names like "Biserica reformată", "Biserica greco-catolică", etc.

Could you please give a source for the names of the streets that you are adding? The only source you provide is Bing/Digital Globe/Mapbox, but those sources do not have street names that OSM can use.

Please do note write the words "under construction" in a name tag when you add a construction site. The tag landuse=construction already specifies that it is an area under construction and there is no need for additional text (unless it is the exact name of the real-estate development being construction). Also, OSM tags are generally supposed to be in the local language, and so it does not look appropriate for the map of Albania’s capital city to have this English text "under construction" everywhere.

What is the source of the name "Strada Cotită" for this street? When I walked around Mihai Viteazu, I was unable to find any street sign for this street.

67547408

Can you please specify the source of the name "Strada Paltinis" for this street in Mihai Viteazu? When I walked around Mihai Viteazu and added street names, I was unable to find any street sign for this street. Naturally, we cannot copy the names for streets from Google Maps.

I noticed that this change involves a mistake: the street here is not Rruga Thanas Mertiri but a continuation of Rruga Viktor Eftimiu. Furthermore, that exact same mistake is found in Google Maps. This seems an unlikely coincidence. Are you copying from Google Maps? That is strictly forbidden in OpenStreetMap. This is a serious matter, so please respond to this changeset comment. Otherwise, I will have to bring this up with the Data Working Group and discuss rolling back many (if not most) of your OSM edits.

What is the source of these telecommunication offices you have added to Korça? 1) If you copied them from some kind of list, that list may be under copyright, and 2) OSM name= tags should not contain details like "POS [number]".

Please do not use the hostel tag for hotels and hospedajes. ("hostel" in English DOES NOT mean the same thing as "hostal" in Spanish.) For anything called a hospedaje, use the tourism=guest_house tag instead. For hotels, use tourism=hotel. The tag tourism=hostel should only be used for youth hostels, or backpacker accommodation that generally offers a dormitory room.

Hello Mihai, I see that you have returned to OSM editing, but you still are not providing any sources for your edits. For example, what is the origin of all these Romanian-language names for Bulgarian cities? If you cannot provide a source, I am afraid I will have to revert your recent changes.

Thanks for adding this drinking water. But please do not add a name (especially a name in a foreign language) to drinking water sources (and other points of interest) unless they actually have some kind of formal name.

You have already been warned for making unsourced edits and garbage edits. Since this changeset has elements of both (no source, claims of a "Burger King" in two small towns), I have reverted the changeset.

62173560

OK, but then please mention this in each edit. Modern OSM tools ask you to specify a source for every single changeset.

62173560

Please specify a source for your edits. Writing "Map Reference" as the comment for every single uploaded change is not helpful.

Are "Lowes" and "Walmart" *really* the names of these shops according to the sign posted outside of them? If not, then please remove these names and please do not make up names for POIs.

These name:en tags are completely fictional. This edit must be reverted. I have reported you (yet again) to the Data Working Group for unsourced edits.

This changeset is very problematic because you added barrier=fence to all of the residential properties that you imported. I was just in Jimbolia and I could verify that, firstly, in many cases there is no fence there. So, all of these barrier=fence tags need to be deleted unless a mapper on the ground documents the presence of a fence. There is a reason for being so strict: if a user tries to add a highway=service through some of these places, the editor may flag an error that a highway is intersecting a barrier without an appropriate tag (e.g. barrier=gate)

Secondly, not all these "residential" properties are residential properties. Both landuse=residential and barrier=fence got added to at least one industrial facility in the town where neither tag is actually appropriate.

Great, thanks.
