My Observation at OSM

My soul loves to have a squiz at different landscapes across the globe, be it the mountains of Alaska, the Himalayas, the vast, beautiful iron-coloured outback of Aus, the sharp images of the Alps, the dense bush of South America, or the rural sections of the African continent. Since it is hard yakka to reach every nook and cranny of the world—be it the deserts, mountain ranges, remote lakes, glaciers, and hard-to-reach tracks—I use OpenStreetMap to explore these virtually and in the process map ‘em as well.

Mapping is a kind of meditation for my soul, especially at a micro level. Rarely touch JOSM; the web editor is my main tool. Some veteran mappers have been fair dinkum and helped me get my mapping into good nick, while some VIP galahs used arrogant words to point out my mistakes and show their dominance in their patch , which my soul handled no worries, but thanked 'em for letting me learn about human behaviour as well.

My soul was gobsmacked to witness vast glaciers which previously some volunteer had mapped but now have receded to the base of the peaks, how farmland has been replaced by concrete infrastructure, and forests been cleared off for various things ranging from oil pads to quarries. OSM is helping me suss out places more widely at a micro level without physically being out woop woop.

All kinds of guidelines are warmly welcome, which will further help me in my observations and mapping as a by-product. Cheers.
