My name is Mikka. l walk the Caminos de Santiago and write an app called Ultreia.me.
The app was started, because almost all Camino apps use OSM data but none contributed back changes to OSM. With more than half a million people walking the Caminos every year, and more than 75% using a Camino app, that means a lot of reported changes (fountain potability, hostel bed number or opening hours) being locked away in those app silos.
We wanted to change this, and we’re slowly doing so. Every edit is hand checked by me or another volunteer with OSM/Overpass experience and applied manually to prevent accidental or intentional vandalism.
